Fun fact about that 1995 win against the 49ers- as part of the condition of the Jeff George trade, if the Falcons finished the 1995 season with 9+ wins, they owed the Indianapolis Colts their first round pick in the upcoming draft. Because of that win, Atlanta had no first round pick that year, as it went to Indy. And Indianapolis used that first round pick to select... Hall of Fame WR Marvin Harrison, showing that even when the Falcons win, they lose

y'all, i'm begging for one of these on the phoenix suns. a drug scandal that got guys barred from playing for years, a 3ot game in their first finals appearance, charles barkley being himself, 7SOL with a two-time mvp who beat out shaq, kobe, and a whole host of others, some of the best and worst seasons in nba history within the same millenium, all capped off by a different all-time point guard who led the team to the finals in the first year. the suns are a story of intense highs and lows, with plenty of title-less tragedy. it's perfect for something like this

From tragedies ending both teams chances or in the case of the Cardinals, being in the basement until Don Coryell resurrected them, then they fired him and got left in the basement/mediocrity until 1998 and then the recent success from 2007 to now despite the collapses. 1998 bums me out even though the Cards got to the Playoffs and Suns got to the playoffs too, the Suns couldn't do much in the playoffs and the Cards made a bunch of mistakes, specifically the draft though they ended Dallas's window in the first round of the 98 playoffs.

He at least had several outside factors influencing his team's suckiness (such as trading Schaub to make Vick the complete starter... in 2007, so we all know how that ended.) This move singlehandedly set the team back for DECADES- they may not have even needed Vick if they just kept him. It could've had a ripple effect for centuries if Glanville didn't basically make sure Favre wanted nothing more to do with the team.

That Jerry Glanville Footbrawl game looks like a Genesis port of the arcade coin-op Pigskin 621 AD. It's not really a football game, it's more like a made up ball sport with some football elements. It pits Vikings vs Barbarians (or whoever they are), you get points for scoring touchdowns and maintaining possession for a significant amount of time, and you can pick up and use weapons strewn about the field. Deaths are very common. If you run up the score the opposing team summons a new troll player and the game gets extra hard. Great fun all around.

He went on to become World Championship Wrestling's most iconic professional wrestler, debuting on WCW's TV program on October 20th, 1997. He was signed by WWE in 2003, and has made sporadic appearances since first leaving the company in late 2004. Another interesting thing of note about Goldberg is his Jewish faith. He is a very religious guy, too. There aren't many Jewish professional athletes, and Goldberg is one of the best.

Something non-football-related about Jerry Glanville you understandably left out: He also drove NASCAR and ARCA occasionally from the early '90s up to the early 00's. He raced in the off-seasons during his NFL tenure. (Look his results up on Racing-Reference, not going into that here.) He always ran a black #81. He didn't settle on a single manufacturer, always running hand-me-down vehicles that the big-name teams would sell him. He started out in Buicks, but also ran Fords, and Dodges at different points. He also dabbled in broadcasting races, being part of CBS's NASCAR coverage during their final season in 2000, alongside legends Ken Squier, Mike Joy, Ned Jarrett, Buddy Baker, and, for one Busch Series race, former NASCAR commentator/current Alabama Crimson Tide football commentator Eli Gold. Jerry may not have been all THAT good of a coach, but he sure is a legend, regardless.

Trailing 17-10 in the final seconds, New York had one last Hail Mary attempt to tie the game but the pass was intercepted. Rather than going out of bounds to end the game, Bubba McDowell (who played for Glanville in his rookie season) lateraled the ball to a teammate. After a series of laterals, the play was finally stopped and the Oilers won. I remember watching the game on TV and the announcers blasting the Oilers for their careless stupidity.

Many years later the 49ers would fumble a return after a late game clinching interception against the Falcons. I remember writing a second by second account of that play in a blog post. If was the most Falcons thing ever but this time the 49ers were the chumps.

The Chargers vs Patriots in the 2007 playoffs I want to say, could be wrong about the year, showed what can happen if you intercept it then fumble it back. Chargers probably win that game but Patriots score, eventually win the game and the Super Bowl.

The Miracle of Istanbul is a *_MUST_* of Rewinder. It makes more sense as an episode than Drogba's Champions League-winning penalty or Beckham's free kick against Greece. More storylines, more complexity, much better comeback and aftermath. And the AC Milan Collapse... My favorite sports fact about Atlanta is that it is the fastest way to get an NHL team in Canada. No, seriously. Since January 1st 1980, three teams started to play in Canada that weren't already there: The Calgary Flames, the Ottawa Senators, and the second version of the Winnipeg Jets. The Senators were an expansion franchise, but the other two moved there from Atlanta, being the Atlanta Flames and Atlanta Thrashers before their moves.

I'd definitely go Leafs here. This series is usually at its best with teams that almost make it and then let things go. Sharks would be a good one, though - they've been around 30 years now, and they've had a lot of ups and downs along the way. Sabres would be pretty good as well. Blackhawks wouldn't be a good one, though - they've won too much. These long looks should be reserved for teams that didn't win lots of championships.

I think the peaks and valleys are more interesting than free jump off a cliff and mostly stay there. I would tbf again lean leafs if the choice was close if for nothing more than Balor.

Ive spent all my life in GA and around ATL but ive never been a massive falcons fan. While i do appreciate them, my heart lies in NY with the jets(unfortunately). But seeing a series like this draws me closer to a team i never really cared about. While i could say id love to see a series like this on the jets, you could probably make that case for every NFL team. Ill just appreciate this one since its here

This has been a great series. Sure it has taken me at least two weeks to watch some of the later ones and then restart it, but as more of a NFL underdog fan, I have long rooted for the Falcons, and graduating in 95, 90 was the year I started collecting football cards and it seemed like the Falcons were on fire as Deon was one of the most sought after cards, despite being a defensive player. That crazy Hammer fad only fueled what was like the Bo Jackson of defense's cultural shift into the 90s carried in the absolute swagger of Mr. Sanders. He was so full of himself within reason, and didn't complain about going to what now I know as a struggling organization, which I had no idea, he literally found it to be the perfect platform to unleash this culture shift and bring where he was picked to the same level of greatness. Just brilliant. I also had no idea that Glanville started the black jersey movement, and as a misfit wearing black myself, it made me respect them even more. Also love those details about how Glanville dialed up defenses, attacking like that, quite revolutionary as many things were paradigm shifting about this team. Though it did seem that the better the personnel were the better the scheme working, but again showing failings of the organization rather than the ideas that were bad. D line and Linebackers looked pretty weak even on the best year. This series shows the struggles, along with the smaller achievements, like that win over the Saints that was essentially their super bowl that year, losing to the eventual super bowl winning Redskins no less. You all tell this story with such passion, I am not sure you can do other teams as well, but sure hope you continue the series, get funding from some teams or something and take these to the next level. Quite a few teams I am sure have huge stories, and glory moments that go untold. Especially the earlier you go. This could expand forever though, heck even on a game by game basis on losing seasons seems fascinating, like heartbreaking losses, etc. schadenfreude It has to be difficult to cut these down to make them palatable as long as they are already, and then timing with original video and illustrations in an interesting way, really well done to the team there.
