Now that you know what big brands are looking for from Commercial Car Photographers - will it change your approach to shooting cars? Lets chat about it.

For sure! It is really difficult to get their attention, so help like this is super valuable. I'm sure following these steps will add another level of professionalism to your portfolio.
@joenicklo3 жыл бұрын
Certain aspects, yes. Especially the "shooting on the wrong side of the road" thing. Sometimes I have the car do a fly-by around the camera car but that's gonna change for sure.

Always on point Alex! Listening to the client is crucial. Nothing is more frustrating than a creator with a huge ego that delivers what they want and not what the brand wants.
@TheCarCreative3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for all your work and help on the shoot! Team work made the dream work and I'm super happy with how the photos turned out. Gotta have that brand first mentality if you ever want to work for them again.

interesting video, esp. for enthusiast photographers, I never knew they 'briefed' you in such a detailed way, but would make a great follow up video, if you went a bit deeper into this, like how you get in touch with them in the first place. PS in the 'DO NOT" section, the car was on the WRONG side of the road!!- we drive on the LEFT!!!

Great tips alex. Another one to think about is traffic, where are you going and how are you going there? Nothing worse then getting stuck and watching your shooting time disappear.

I wish I could man, I felt a bit on edge putting any of the documentation in there as I have signed some contracts with Porsche but essentially I covered everything they cover in the document but using my own photos instead of their reference photos. Hopefully that is helpful!
@m.erencelik3 жыл бұрын
It is really indeed, especially part about do not list, I know I've been doing them myself quite a bit 😁 now more things to consider. You learn new things everyday and your journey thought me the most amongst other channels I have seen and it aligned perfectly with my progress. So thank you again for all of them.

Awesome tips, I try to incorporate many of them in non-commercial shoots too, unless it's a car with a mean rebel personality, then break all the rules 😆. That lighting with the white t-shirt and dark background is insane!!

When I did a shoot with Honda UK in October they told me on the phone that they wanted photos of the Honda “e”, then once I got there I found out I had to focus on the pilot instead 😂 (it was F1 driver Gasly, so I can’t complain). This is to say that: yes, do some pre-shoot work but expect surprises as well

Incredibly informative video although, if you get a photo of a car driving on the wrong lane illegally, wouldn't a simple solution be to just mirror the photograph? xD

Don't ever title a video with the words 'the rules of...' . In photography there are no such things as rules so don't be so arrogant as to suggest there are.
@TheCarCreative Жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, seems we may have a misunderstanding here. The title is “rules of commercial car photography”, which when you are fortunate enough to photograph for larger automotive brands like Porsche, they literally send you a PDF outlining Do’s and Do Nots (rules) by which they need you to follow in order to have useable photos. It’s possible you didn’t even watch the video, as having an opportunity like this and then taking the time to create a KZbin video to help further other peoples photography careers is the farthest thing from arrogance. Though you are correct in saying that there should not be “rules” in photography in general, I might suggest a little more consideration in your comments as it words like this that can discourage creators from taking the time to create content for people like you.
