My Hermann’s 🐢 Pebble was 5 years old before I could confirm him as a lil man. He’s now 8 yrs and his temperament is that of a typical lil boy, he wants to climb over everything and thinks he’s invincible. He is super confident and loves his head scratches. His enclosure is as naturalistic as I can possibly build and I’ve also added some ping pong balls for him to play with to keep him entertained. I have had a horsefield tortoise for five years thinking it was male and now I'm starting to think different. Male tortoises I see in zoos have a massive tale more than double the size of mine, I'm going to have to rename her now.

How big do painted turtles need to get before your able to sex them? I got 3 turtles, and last year the biggest one laid a few eggs, so we know she is a female. The other two are much smaller, only about 1.5 in. and 1 in. in diameter.
