I actually really liked Jack's story. "Why did you smell so bad?" "I was... picking flowers. Yeah, they were very poisonous flowers, and they also smelled terrible. ...I live in a swamp." I think that was the hardest I laughed in this segment. The statements start out so incoherent and yet it ends up making sense in a completely unexpected way with that extra bit of context. That's what I love about improv, recontextualizing earlier nonsensical statements.

@Rexaura8885 жыл бұрын
Rachel Jordan It’s because Tim really wasn’t putting on a character like the Tim Skywalker bits; he really was just being himself. Josh sorta had that going for him, but he got too hung up on the twists and turns of the setting he was supposed to be in. Tim just rolled with it as he does, casually acknowledging things that really shouldn’t have been in the time period but not letting that slow his typical pace down much if at all.

Improv storytelling, with no tables in sight. I was laughing a lot while watching this video. Also, Tim is the king of improv storytelling, pausing the least during his tale about "looting the treasures of the legendary Chattanooga" and rolling with the punches Jules, Carlos and Tom threw at him to incorporate into his story. I have to admit though, that "defeating an evil tree while singing opera" was my favorite.

In which Stephen and friends do some role-playing as storytellers while they try to bamboozle each other and their would-be stories (courtesy of donations) as best they can. Amazing to hear what stuff did/did not exist during and prior to the 18th century and how long some of these lords and lady seem to have lived. Side note: I love how Masae’s story is essentially a glorified “Welcome to the Salty Spittoon, how tough are you?” response and Tom’s is a shorter version of something he’d come up with during the Sonic 06 loading screens. Gods bless the man for trying to keep things in period as best he could. Side Note 2: My thanks go out to Carlos and Sab for being able to attend this year’s Colosseum. For those who didn’t catch it live, the two of them had to get going after this segment (probably to get back in time for school is my guess, but I won’t pry into that too much), and they are great additions to the group behind instruments and controllers. Hope to see them back on this channel for the next event or perhaps even a future LP.

Thomas Joosten Buddy, this is a game set in the 18th Century where the internet, the concept of Hot Ones, and the Metal genre of music existed, the mosh pit was invented and Wich Wich was founded, and people are already out in West riding locomotives, and the invention of sliced bread is the one thing that you call out as being factually incorrect? That’s the line in the sand that was crossed?
@Thoomas20015 жыл бұрын
@@Rexaura888 Honestly, I just found it ironic how he said "I'm the history teacher here" and he said all kinds of other things that were pretty accurate. Nothing crossed the line for me at all, but the situation around it was so different compared to that thing that it caused me -- and many in chat at that point -- to look up the year sliced bread was invented. My comment was more meant as a joke, nothing more.
@Rexaura8885 жыл бұрын
Thomas Joosten I mean I figured you were joking. I was going to follow up with an “OK, just checking”. But since we’re talking what went on, chat was questioning just about everything out of place for the setting, but I think the ironic thing about Emile calling himself a history teacher was that most of he stories about his narcolepsy or falling asleep in class because he had a hard time going to sleep at normal hours was as I recall during history class. He’s also the one Guy who grew up on the philosophy of “a D is passing”. Honestly, his getting the era of sliced bread invention wrong (seriously, Ancient Egypt? They invented many things; sliced bread ain’t one of them) didn’t bother me so much because I was more impressed at how much he got right with revealing historical facts and events.
@Thoomas20015 жыл бұрын
@@Rexaura888 Yeah, exactly. That's what made this stick out like a badly-sliced bread. A whole lot of things were obscure actual facts, and pretty accurate, but this was _way_ off, which made it very funny to point out in my opinion.

1:20:35 - 1:21:40 I can come up with *so many* challenges for this moment in Carlos' story, but I'd be here all day. So here are 4 of the challenges : 1) As Carlos said, the bread was stale. if the guy were try and bend it, it wouldn't budge unless he put force behind it, causing the bread to break into 2 stale halves. How did he bend the bread? Even if it wasn't stale, bending the bread wouldn't hold shape and instead would break into 2 halves. 2) toasting stale bread wouldn't soften the bread, it would just make it even harder to bend. Also, how did the board member get the butter and seasonings in the middle of the bread if he didn't cut it? 3) As I recall, Boomerangs were made in Australia, not France. So you're telling me somehow this member of the French Revolution had enough time to sail to Australia, learn how to make a boomerang, and come back for this occasion during a war? 4) unless this guy had a really good aim or was at close range, there's no way he'd be able to hit Yohan with the bread. Even if he did hit him, Yohan, given where he was on the ladder, would've been mildly annoyed and carried on his way up.
