Lots of betrayal, trolls and salt on this one. But man, it sure was fun as hell. I'd say this was probably my favorite part of the entire Colosseum after the Falcon Roulette. I won't lie that I was actually rooting for Jules more, but I couldn't help but feel super bad for Masae getting held back by all those resets. She did incredibly well despite losing in the end. Oh, and extra points for Josh with that massive troll near the end. The man deserves a medal after that one.

After reading about some of the drama the resetting caused with viewers of the stream... seriously? That was it? Masae did get hit with more resets, but Jules had a lot of challenges of his own near the end too. So this whole, "Masae was bullied" thing was really pushed out of proportion. Just White Knights being White Knights. Regardless this was super fun to watch and major props to Masae for doing what she did as someone new to speedrunning this game.

Yeah, I don't think Masae's fans realize that Jules did have to get 5x the number of stars she did. Plus, she was hitting some of the speedrunning tactics pretty consistently too. It isn't really like Masae lost that much time due to resets overall. Especially when you consider how much of the game Jules had to play with oven mitts on

PeaTearGryfin A lot of it came down to experience in the end, and Masae just did not have the timing or practice down against Ultimate Bowser as Jules did. Resetting Jules wouldn’t have mattered at that point, and Masae showed that she could just as quickly catch back up with how consistent her BLJs were. The only time I thought the resets were a bit much was when the Mips clips were involved, and even then she managed.

And really that's how I see it too. At the time, it was annoying to see Masae get reset multiple times, but being pretty much inexperienced at the time (I think she said she did it once before vs Jules has ran it multiple times and who taught her) AND would have won if she didn't get mits, blindfolded, or reset, I can't say she didn't do an amazing job. The odds were always in her favor, so a little ragging was in order, though a few of the late game resets were still pretty annoying.

Zach Gamemaster From the trouble she was having with Ultimate Bowser (final boss), I’m not so certain that she would have had it in the bag in a straight race. She died a lot during that, even without resets, mitts, and blindfolds.

Rexaura888 I'm more talking about how she was ahead for most of the game, taking everything into account. She may have died a lot, but Jules also died at some pretty dumb spots too. I had faith that if all the punishment had gone to Jules at the end, she could have done it eventually. She did get to the final hit of the final boss after all.

To be fair, a reset was only ever devastating whenever they were at the boss or Masae had just glitched something; outside of that, blindfolding for two minutes pretty much stalled any movement and in Jules case at one point was essentially a reset

I was rooting for Masae to win because she was clearly the underdog here. However, Jules is a speedrunning pro after all. Masae still did well executing the tricks Jules showed her.

I was making an observation that this circle of friends in particular seems to draw out rather violent remarks towards some they don't like, between the many Emile dissenters that frequently comment about wanting to hurt him if they were in Jon's/Tim's/etc place and these comments here. I know that there is a difference between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS but I decided to try my own luck in the race my own way. In that two hours I got a total of 41 stars and was 10 stars behind Jules for 20 minutes. This was a fun video and thanks for giving me a way to test myself.

The amount of resets towards the end of the race was just painful. It's a pretty big setback for both runners, and holding them back like that irritates me. Especially poor masae. I feel like the resets should've been more expensive than the blindfolds, so that peeps think twice about spending so much to screw someone up.

Great job, Masae! If Jules told you to rotate the camera 360 degrees every few minutes, don't listen to him. Most speedrunners don't do that. Also, the perspective makes it very difficult to dodge Bower's shock waves, so you might try timing your jumps based on when you hear Bowser land instead of watching the waves.

Aquotron Good future advice, but as Jules pointed out on his side during Wet-Dry World and unless Masae’s TV audio was as audible as it was for us viewing the stream, there’s no way Masae could have heard the sound of Bowser coming down unless she has very sensitive ears due to the game audio being reduced. Never mind. I just realized that some of the group reactions to what happened on Masae’s screen wouldn’t have happened if her TV audio was turned down (specifically reactions to Mario’s OOF sound effect).

Man I just did the 16 star run. The hardest part is the mipps clip cause it is so hard to clip him right. If you know how to backwards long jump it's not too bad. Did it in under an hour. Masea you did great but you kept getting sabotaged.

johnny elkins Well this was their first TRG Colosseum so they haven't ironed out the problems, I think the low amount for reset was an oversight I don't think they expected it to be spammed like it was.

Wow super cool that they got that giant raid from Kitboga. I don’t watch his streams but I’ve seen some of his videos. Anyone that gets back at scammers is cool in my book, especially if they turn it into something comedic. (See also: James Veitch)

PyroTrap It was super cool, yes, but also super unfortunate. I’m pretty sure that raid was what caused the stream to crash due to the amount of viewers, and with that crash, a lot of the viewers from that night didn’t come back.
