The movie is what did it for Me, I didn't even know who The Runaways were until I watched the movie last week on Netflix. Now I'm a Runaways Super Freak. I love this band, and I'm 57...lol. Pretty fucked up. Although, back in the mid-70s, I wasn't listening to this kinda stuff. I was in Junior High, or thereabouts, and I was more into 10CC, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Eagles, & some old-time Rockabilly Stuff & The Beatles...Back in their Sweet Georgia Brown Days, before Ringo, when Pete Best was the Drummer & Tony Sheridan was singing for the band ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3yviqVpo6amkMk ). But, Joan Jett & Cherrie Bomb.....back in the mid-70s.....YUM!!!!!

Saw them in '78 opening for the Ramones. They were one of my favorite bands, and my girlfriend's favorite. We were there to see The Runaways. Had only heard the Ramones' "Rocket To Russia" album and were still trying to digest the whole punk scene at the time. Got backstage after the show and got a great kiss from Sandy! My girlfrind wasn't even jealous; She wished SHE could've kissed her! A kick ass concert which also turned me into a huge Ramones fan! RIP, Sandy. Love ya!

Sandy West, tremendous drummer. She and Lita Ford were the more "metal/hard rock"oriented members of the band, and IF the band hadn't imploded and they could have been more influential in the writing, who knows? The Runaways may have gone in a very different direction musically.

It was a great shame they couldn’t just blend the hard rock metal & Glam Punk together, they would’ve surely got even greater recognition & success that they deserved. 1980’s would’ve lapped them up! But they were up against so many odds it’s absolutely astounding what they did in that time alone!

@Coy Leigh but they birthed two of the most iconic female leads of the 80s and early 90s... not to mention, most of them discount the band because they were teenagers and as such the themes and ideas they sang about were based on such as well. They’ve even said they wouldn’t have lasted because they were teenage “runaways”. It wasn’t meant to last, but was meant to be decent while it did.

LUIS ANGEL ESTRADA , VELEZ Dude, you are SO right! I was a little younger than these girls & wanted to do what they were doing - they were my idols. But I couldn't get the girls around me to take up instruments & go for it, & as you said, the guys ignored female rockers. Most had never even heard of The Runaways! So, I got thoroughly discouraged & gave up. Later discovered I'd have hated life on the road, anyway. Ironically, it was on a tour that featured Joan Jett & Robert Plant! At least THAT dream came true!!
