The Rush to PacNW Supra Nationals 2020: Supra Brake upgrade, Plugs, Tires......
Looking back at the rush to try to get the A70 Supra ready for PacNW Supra Nationals 2020. It's been a crazy year and we didn't think this event was going to happen. There is so much to do on the car. Clean up the Mercedes Brake Upgrade, change plugs, compression test, check out the 2jz's top end, new tires, torque check. Not sure if the car will make it at this point..........

Definitely..... I mean if you have Brembos, but no one knows they are Brembos.... easily doubles your stopping distance 🤣. Hopefully we will see you there! Dates are starting to get kicked around so they should be set and announced soon!

Thanks Marcos, I wasn't sure if I'd like the silver or want something that stood out a little more. It pops enough so I'll poudercoat them an even better shade as soon as they start to fade.

Wow. The dedication to checking the valve lash every other plug change...I'm Supra impressed with that level of preventative maintenance. Do we need to start planning our summer meet up in Cheyenne now? Haha. I'm afraid to drive the Fairmont further than 3.5 hrs. And the brake bleeding. Yea I don't think I'll get Leah to help me with that more than the 1 time I asked.

It's cheap insurance just to make sure things are right. Pulling the coil cover and coils is half the work of getting the valve covers off so it's probably only another 20 min since I've done it a bunch of times. I hate vacuum bleeders so I'll do whatever I have to to get someone to help 🤣

I absolutely know how it feels to want to have your car ready. I've been wanting to do a paint correction on my 87 Rescue for over a year. But, sourcing all the gaskets for the hatch and getting all the parts to make it better than new have taken so long. What tires are those? They look like Federals. Also why aren't you running slotted/ drilled rotors? If you check out my video on my resurrection, you can see how much nicer they look. They also have far less fade. I also gap my Coppers the same. She likes a little hotter spark.

On this car most of the seals are still good, being from the PNW and garaged it faired pretty well so I was not even going to remove everything for the correction. The real thing that has had me stalling is finding a source for single stage black paint that can match Toyota 202. The paint is original so it has some rock chips I would like to fill and wet sand. Most single stage blacks are not black enough and have a brown hue in comparison. Most flagship lines have moved almost exclusively to two stage over the years. The current rotors are brembos and work pretty well. I am working on a 2 piece option for this setup so I am just running these in the mean time since they are cheap and high quality still. How much boost are you running and what heat range? I'm one step colder on 7s and I gapped down to .028 this time, which is still a bit wide compared to what a lot of people run.

@@BoostRodeo my car is practically bone stock after sitting 20 years in the original owner's garage. It only has 67k miles on it. I've only put about 3500 miles on it since I've had it.

@@TejasAutoSalonJasonW Oof, I knew that. I watched your barn find video! I'm running 18psi on a turbo with twice the cfm of the ct26 so that plug gap was super wide! I'm actually surprised it was running as well as it was.

I did set the gap back to .28. The only issues with running I've run into is after driving, getting to temp, then stopping at say a gas station, and driving again ,I get a CEL every so often. I can drive for an hour straight, not shut the car off and never get the light. But when I get the CEL it feels almost like limp mode. I really need to get an OBD1 scanner. Lol. Annnnd my high pressure steering line decided to start going out today. Fml. Lol I'm getting the braided one for sure. Purists can cry later and be happy when I sell it to them. Lol after paint it's AC charging time.

I don't think its exactly been a flop if you ask Toyota. In the US in 2 years they have sold almost 80% of the total MKIV sales, which was over 7 years.....

@@BoostRodeo ive read that you need to run a certain offset wheel for these to fit..is that true? And what offet do you need?

@@scottchelmford7136 The spoke design is actually more important than the offset. It requires at least 17s and not all 17" barrels will clear depending on where the drop down in the barrel is. If your spokes are relatively flat on the back it likely won't fit. If your spokes have some concave to them it likely will. Same issue that most any aftermarket brakes will have going from a sliding caliper design to opposed pistons. As you can see I have to run spacers with my wheels to clear.
