Interesting story of Donald Campbell. They really did an amazing job at restoring the boat. I’m surprised it stayed at the bottom of the lake for so long. I guess they couldn’t get it because it was too deep. 👍27
@glyn8298 ай бұрын
Hi Craig the lake is very deep and I think it was left as a little respect to him they also recovered his body and he as a modest memorial in the local church yard

That was some terrible crash, Glyn and Carol. Enjoyed seeing the restored Bluebird and enjoyed the tour. Can't say we enjoyed the crash, but Mr. Campbell would have been well aware of the danger! Thanks for bringing us along.

Hi Dave and Kathy thanks for coming along Donald and his father Malcolm held many speed records land and water for many years there's been many replica Bluebirds but looking at the original is quite something else

That’s a fantastic museum, great to see the Bluebird restored… I know there was a dispute between the family and the restoration company, not sure if that ever got resolved but it looks amazing 👍🏻

Good to see it - just a shame it's not presented in an authentic configuration - for example it's missing the spray baffles around the intake. Was there any information or details on the runs they have planned for next year? I would have expected the museum to be showing some engine test runs at the very least.

The original Orpheus engine acted as a sacraficial annode for the rest of the boat. When I was there in 17 there was just a few parts laid out on a 'floor plan' of the boat. The corroded engine was part of that. Good to see it complate again. The controversy of A. Raising it, B. restoring it and C. running it again not withstanding. There is or was a very decrepit Merlin lieing in the dirt just outside the door.
