@8:30 The Ukrainians are firing Swedish made Carl Gustav M3 84mm recoilless rifles. Probably the most versatile anti-armor weapon system available at the squad level. The amount of shells avail. for this thing is crazy. Anti-armor, anti-personnel, anti-materials, anti-bunker/buildings/structures... direct attack, top attack, AP, HE, HEAT, and air-bursting fragmentation. It's essentially man-portable, personal artillery.

@@raynelsamuels3961 No idea what the unit cost is, but they gotta be a fraction of the cost of Javelin or even NLAW, both of which are one-time-use throwaway systems with advanced electronics & active seeker heads in the warhead... though admittedly Javelin is a MUCH longer range & MUCH more specialized anti-tank weapon (not as versatile against troops & bunkers). The Carl Gustav should be cheap b/c it's reusable... basically just a composite rifle tube with an optic. All the special sauce comes from the myriad of shell types it can fire... and it can fire A LOT & OFTEN!

In WW2 the Soviets used old biplanes carrying small bombs flying at night to harass the entrenched Germans on the Eastern front. These were in many cases flown by women, some of who were widows of recently killed soldiers so they had a personal axe to grind with the German invaders. Their main effect was to deprive the Germans of sleep. They were known as nachthexen by the Germans, night witches. This use of low tech weaponry has many parallels with the lowtech drones being used in trench warfare in todays war.
