Gordon: superlatively informed; diligent presentation; splendid speaking style. Natasha: charismatic compere; flawless host. I've met very Japanese people, and even fewer Russian, but it'd be a real treat to encounter this two. Good work, you pair.

5:36 The proper term for these "lordless samurai" is Ronin, literally "wave man" because they were like waves, wandering around.

This professor is a good lecturer-charisma. Amazing scholarship that no american historian has yet aticulated & presented so well. I never knew any of this until i listened to his u tube talks. Our universities & military schools have failed us in the U.S. thanks much prof gordon.

Thank you Ms Natasha and Major for yet another fantastic presentation. Is there any record of losses like hunan and material loses on both sides?

Wonderful lecture! Greatly enjoyed... I feel like I am in the fantastic Golden Eagle train on the trans Siberian express... (oops, I may have not named the train correctly, oh well!). I love hearing about non-Western powers totally destroying Western powers. It's really cool and rare. Also, it's interesting to know that some of my Latvian ancestors may have been on the Baltic Fleet! They were all mostly from Courland/Kurzeme.

This lecture is not about the Russian Civil War. The Russian capital at this time was Saint Petersburg and not Moscow. Awesome presentation. Thanks for shooting and sharing.
