Though I’m a core McCarty 594 owner, I absolutely have to have one of these IN this SPECIFIC FINISH. Putting US pups in the S2 is one of the best things to happen to guitars in the past twenty years.

Very nice upgrades. This puts the S2 in another very desirable spot.

I can’t help but re-watch this! I’m also reminded that the 594’s are unbelievably versatile. In addition to being able to pull tone knobs and split humbuckers, you can use the volume and tone knobs to blend tones to an extremely refined sound!

Bryan, you rock. I am blessed to have a Core SC594, and the new S2 is super impressive. If I were looking for a new one, it would be the first one I'd check out. I'm looking for a Paul's Guitar now, and I bought a US Silver Sky in 2023 - take that as a warning kids - PRS US guitars are like Lay's Potato chips. You can't just have one. 🤣

Thanks Bryan! Very happy to see USA pups in S2 line now though the price increases will be tough in Canada. Luckily I'm pretty happy with the tones from 85/15(S) in my SE SAS. (And the AS-01 is amazing too.)

So many distinct clean sounds from this guitar. I wonder, does the Tremonti SC also come with the ability to tap the individual pickups?

ah dam are they all poly? I actually have another S2 and tbh it doesn't feel like a poly lacquer at all. Actually, come to think of it, I don't even really know what the difference is between a S2 and a regular USA model lol. That said, I have been seriously considering getting one of these Singlecuts (I love my Gibson LP but would love a more refined LP-style guitar just like the Singlecut is here), though. It just seems like a perfected LP-style guitar, imo, and that is exactly what I am looking for right now.
@mortonwilson7956 ай бұрын
@@STSGuitar16 With you on that. I have a nice '68 Custom but interested in a less 'precious' LP with Gibson scale (or close!) for taking out of the studio. I'm quite keen on the black Tremonti SE - it would be a mod-job, will replace pick-ups and wiring but the overall feel is great and the Trem is a nice added bonus, perfect for my playing . . . on the other hand this S2 pretty well delivers altho a plain black version would be nice, the PRS 'coloured flames' are a bit of eyesore, frankly.

@@mortonwilson795 yeah man, I absolutely love my LP (2013 LP Traditional that I’ve had for almost six years now and is still my number one favorite guitar) but that dam thing always leaves me with a sore neck and back the days after standing up for a four-hour gig lol. I know the Singlecuts are definitely lighter than a Gibson, plus I love the body contouring and easier upper fret access that a LP doesn’t have. Seems like PRS has just perfected a LP style guitar with these. I still play mainly my LP at home and a PRS SE Hollowbody II is my main gigging guitar. I love love love a hollowbody (if I had the money, I’d definitely spring for a PRS McCarty 594 Hollowbody, but unfortunately I don’t have a spare $5k lying around lol) not only because of how light it is, but also super harmonically rich and how easy it is to get some good endless sustain/feedback going at reasonable volumes. Definitely not my best guitar, but it does a fine job for the gigs I play. My SE Hollowbody is a great guitar, but there is a very obvious drop in quality compared to my LP (though, I haven’t ever taken it to get a proper setup and fret polishing yet, which would definitely help things), so I’m hoping one of these Singlecuts will speak to me and live up to how much I love my LP and take the top spot as my main gigging guitar. I just have an attachment to my LP more than any of my 12+ guitars, so finding something that lives up to it for me will possibly be difficult but I am definitely hoping for the best. But yeah, the SE electronics in particular absolutely must be replaced if you want any good use of your volume and tone pots at all. It’s basically all of nothing with the cheap electronics. Overall, the SE range has really been great. While I do think some of PRS’s burst finishes can be gaudy, I think the options available for this particular model are all really beautiful, so we will have to disagree there lol

@@VintageRadius I have a couple of Gibsons too. But the attention to detail and level of quality that PRS employs should be the standard that every guitar company shoots for as a minimum standard.

@@zakkwyldesliver yeah PRS is doing an amazing job - and I think what you are hitting on is a reflection of passion and customer-centric culture that comes down from the top. I hardly knew the brand at all 8-10 years ago and am looking to add my second PRS soon.

Honestly I prefer the bevel body sometimes vs the full carve. It goes either way for me. The biggest thing that stopped me from buying an S2 previously was the SE pickups and the bland tops. But I recently purchased a wood library S2 in a satin finish for about $2k and MY GOD thats the right combo of everything.
