When you look at the night sky, you can see countless stars that died millions of light years ago. They still appear before your eyes as though they were alive. Why? Because the speed of light is limited, and thus the light of a star takes time to reach the earth. So people can still see living and shining stars, even at the moment of each star's death, millions of light years after their death. I like to think of the Mass in a similar way -- taking the Sacrifice of Calvary to the ends of the universe. "I am the Light of the world," said Jesus. When we participate in the Mass, we participate in nothing less than the Sacrifice of Calvary itself. We watch it live ; we see his death 2,000 years ago before our very eyes.

This is a solid explanation, in a succinct manner for most people to grasp it. The Eucharist is the New Covenant form of the sacrifice commissioned in the Torah's precepts. It is not a new idea, since it comes from the time of Moses, nor is it against the New Covenant, as St Paul himself partakes in a sacrifice after the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, in the book of Acts. The sacrifice of the Eucharist is not substitutionary atonement, since Christ already died for mankind, but rather the participation in the thanksgiving sacrifice to God, as well as the acknowledgement of said atonement from our Lord Christ.

How did Christ both partake and initiate the first Mass while in the upper room with His disciples on the day of Atonement.? Did Christ actually eat His own body, blood and Divinity that night? And if it's supposed to be in remembrance of the crucifixion, why would Christ initiate the first Mass before being crucified? The whole thing is absurd.

I'm glad to hear that the Church acknowledges one saving sacrifice. So if the sacrifice of the Mass is allowing the Priest to present Christ's merits to the Father on behalf of others, how many times is it necessary to do so? And why the necessity of the consumption of the Host? And if it's necessary to consume the Host as the body of Christ, then why not the wine, as the blood of Christ? (“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.) I personally feel like this verse is an allegory but has been used as rationale for the doctrine of transubstantiation. Are the following verses allegorical? "I am the vine, you are the branches" or "I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture." I was taught that growing up that the whole point of the Holy Mass was the sacrifice and consumption of the transubstantiated elements. Still hard to comprehend that this is supposed to be more than a remembrance, but I pray I will be forgiven if I am wrong about that and be enlightened as to my error.

Hello @The Ross Man. Shortly after Jesus said “Truly, truly…” the Bible describes many apostles departing from him. You can’t blame them, it was an incredibly difficult teaching. Blood was never to be consumed because it was the “life” of an animal. Why didn’t Jesus stop them and say “wait, it’s just a symbol!”? When the pattern of “Truly, truly” is spoken it was well understood as a formula meaning “take this very seriously, just as it sounds”. A great question on repeated consumption of the Eucharist. It has infinite potential to dispense grace, but the grace we receive is limited by our receptiveness, the state of our soul, the merit of the mass, more. There are other reasons as well. Father Ripperger speaks on this topic and I can direct you if you’d like. If you think of our physical bodies needing to be born, fortified, and nourished, you can translate that to our soul in Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist (idea taken from St. Thomas Aquinas there) Archbishop Fulton Sheen gives a beautiful example of why consumption is necessary: If an animal could speak to a plant it might say: You can only sit there and grow, I can move and run and do these higher things. If you can die to yourself, you can live a higher life in me (be consumed). There’s a reverse of that at Mass: When we consume the Eucharist, we aren’t incorporating the infinity of God into the little box of our humanity, our humanity is being divinized and drawn to a higher supernatural life, which culminates in Heaven.

i value your questions and searching efforts. though i can not give definitive answers, here are some related thoughts. "how many times is it necessary" - IMO the number is irrelevant, the point is the sacrifice to become a habit (not a routine but more like a lifestyle). in the middle ages altough there were weekly-daily masses but laymen took it yearly. in eastern churches they parttake communion in both species today too. there is a strong parralellism between the old testament daily sacrifice and the new one; and the priests and levites did the sacrifices continously, Paul points out there is a certain continuity of the the old covenant and the new one which shows to me that we also ought to present sacrifices continuously - however the new covenant sacrifice includes the sacrifice of the heart through the only perfect sacrifice of IHS. "why the bread and not the wine" - since a living man is body+soul composite unseparatedly (blood representing the "life/soul"), so both became the whole Christ, including his body+blood+soul+divinity altogether, either species is Christ himself. the celebrant even mingle the 2 in the chalice.

We are incorporated into the sacrifice in the Mass. Daniel refers to the Sacrifice but Scripture itself refers to the Perpetual Sacrifice we are warned that towards the end the Perpetual Sacrifice will be removed from the Sanctuary this happened in USSR under Communism and the Nazis wanted Catholicism out. We are incorporated into the last Supper and crucifixion. Remember Jews worshipped the Messiah in advance They went to the Temple in Jerusalem for Passover Prayers.

1 Corinthians 11:24-25 KJV 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in *remembrance* of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in *remembrance* of me. Ephesians 5:30 KJV For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. John 6:54-63 KJV 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. 59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum. 60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the *words* that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. 65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. 66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the *words* of eternal life.

I've seen the separation of the Body and Blood to itself denote a sacrifice to God. As this is how God told Isreal to sacrifice to him in the passover. The blood was the life of the animal and offered to God while the flesh was eaten by the priests and those who offered the sacrifice. There is a significance in the blood being offered to men but I'm not fully sure of it.
@nichmon3221

In Leviticus 17:13-14, God tells the Jews not to consume the blood of animals because it is "the life" of the animal(sacrifice). That is why drinking Jesus' blood in the Eucharist is significant. Jesus said something about whoever doesn't drink His blood and eat His body will not have life. I learned this from a book called JESUS AND THE JEWISH ROOTS OF THE EUCHARIST by Brant Pitre. The Last Supper, along with the Eucharist, is hard to understand unless a person is familiar with the way Jews made sacrifices in the Old Testament, specificallly referring to the blood being life.

Do _THIS_ in memory of me. _THIS_ is why we don't use leavened bread but unleavened. _THIS_ is why we use wine or grape juice (unfermented wine) and not Kool-Aid. The Bread is Christ's body, ✔ The wine is Christ's blood, ✔ A clergyman's miracle 🚫 Where is the requirement of a miracle worker (clergyman) to "transubstantiate" the elements into what Jesus said they are? Nowhere. ""Do _THIS_ in memory of me." Requiring a miracle worker for this to happen is not _THIS_ and so disqualifies the act (i.e. service). It's like using Wonder Bread and Kool-Aid as the elements. It's like requiring 10 Jumping Jacks before taking the Lord's Supper. It's adding unauthorized requirements to the commandment of the King. Gal. 3:15 - Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. The greatest absurdity ever put out by the Roman church was that the creature could eat its Creator. Trent is very clear on what the Mass is. It is an actual bloodless sacrifice, it is propitiatory in nature and Christ is immolated in the process. In other words, Christ dies during the Mass in an unbloodied fashion, basically burned alive, the meaning of immolation. It is not biblical, transubstantiation is not biblical. Christ died once and for all, His sacrifice had only to be done once and no, He does not get off His throne and move body, soul and Divinity into a cracker every time a priest commands Him to. The Mass is an abomination.

If the bread after consecration literally becomes the body of Christ, how do you prove it? Scientifically? Scripture? The sacrifice of the mass is wrong. 11For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for your souls upon the altar; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul. Leviticus 17:11. The body of the lamb sacrifices is not offered in the tabernacle for the remission of sin but the blood only. 22According to the law, in fact, nearly everything must be purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22 11But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come,f He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made by hands and is not a part of this creation. 12He did not enter by the blood of goats and calves, but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, thus securing eternal redemption. Hebrews 9:11,12 Scripture proves the sacrifice of the mass is not needed because Jesus said “It is finished”

Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?" Mt. 15:3 Roman Catholic man-made traditions such as purgatory, Maryology, veneration of statues/relics, Popery, etc...are evidences of its false nature as a church. Jesus neither instituted a sacerdotal eucharist or calls the bread or cup his "blood, body, soul, divinity" in a direct manner. In John 6, Jesus is clearly speaking metaphorically in regards to his "body and blood." John 6:63 and the entire context of this chapter in the Hebraic understanding of his original audience points to the "bread from heaven" (not the physical bread that God gave through Moses) but the true spiritual bread that feeds God's people (Isa. 55:1-2). It is my hope that the listener to this video will see the almost exclusive reliance Mr. White has on human wisdom, particularly that of the church fathers and not Holy Scripture. Receive Jesus as Lord and Savior (spiritually) by repenting of your sins and by trusting in the risen Christ to give you his righteousness as a gift (John 3:3, Eph. 2:8-10, 2 Cor. 5:21)!
