When you think about it, he was just an ordinary guy, but then a girl died because of a rollercoaster he built didn't function properly, so now everyone mistook him for a bad person and I guess that made him angry, then Diane died from the car crash and that turned him into a depressed and angry man, then Mya died from falling off the roof and he blamed Aaron for it and from what I think trapped him in his basement and kept him there as a "punishment". Also Diane is his wife. Aaron is his son. And Mya is his daughter.

I think hello neighbor 2 happens a few months after the second chapter of the first game, because the kid is still young but we don't see nicky anywere because he's dealing without succes with the trauma that was being kidnapped, it doesn't happen in chapter 3 because nicky was a wrong up Man at that point so Aron( the neighbor's kid) would also be grown up
