What I never understood about people freaking out about Switch 2 is that it doesn’t financially make sense to do a big reveal like this 2 months before the holidays. It would make more sense for them to sell off current Switch stock for the holidays, and then proceed with announcement by Q2. This also allows production to ramp up and prepare for a full launch the next fiscal year.

March or April is such a perfect time to launch a console, and by skipping that time frame for a Holiday 2025 launch is just dumb. Its also a pretty bad decision to wait since the Switch and Nintendo are losing hype and excitement. Spring 2025 makes since because they will still have a bit of hype from the Switch 1 to drive sales, instead of the Switch coming to a complete hault before launching Switch 2

I am over the moon for Xenoblade X DE. To anyone who is outside of the XC fandom, I honestly think that this title is one of the most approachable because it isn't super story heavy and way more focused on gameplay, boasting what I think is easily the best and widest exploration in the series with a gigantic seamless world and tons of enemies to fight with a really deep combat system. Also, this game basically got Monolith the ticket to helping the Zelda team out with Breath of the Wild, for which they are mainly credited with designing the world and open-world mechanics. Yeah. Like...the world. In Breath of the Wild. No big deal.

This reminds me of people gaslighting themselves into thinking the Sonic Movie 3 trailer would drop months sooner than when it did. People just need to learn to relax and enjoy what we have while we wait for big reveals. You should expect the worst-case scenario in terms of how long something may take to be revealed. That way, you're either right on the money, or if you're wrong, then you can be pleasantly surprised. I believe Nintendo will reveal Switch 2 anytime after New Years Eve. They don't want to cut in on Switch 1 sales right now for the upcoming Christmas. Consumers would be less likely to invest in Switch 1 if they know for a fact that Switch 2 is right around the corner.

By the time the next console actually releases, the specs and tech behind it will already be like five years old. It's already going to be a gen or two behind competitors on release day since Nintendo has sat on it for several years. They've obviously finished concepts and designs for it years ago. They are getting fairly close and another year with some great remasters and new releases should do the trick and put Playstation 2 into the number 2 spot. The Nintendo switch was the first console I ever bought on day one. It was very exciting. I'm very sad and disappointed we haven't got a reveal yet. Maybe I am naive but I don't think a reveal would really affect Christmas sales for the regular switch. I feel like most of the sales are gonna be from parents buying it for their kids. So people who don't play video games won't even know about the switch 2. And the people who do know that it's going to be coming eventually, they're not going to buy a regular switch.

My guess is the reason we've had these weird silences and wide windows is because Nintendo doesn't even know. The Switch 2 launch lineup is so intensive that they're having trouble narrowing down when the games are going to be ready. We know that the launch lineup is the reason behind the internal delay in the first place, and there might've been MULTIPLE internal delays constantly pushing the date back. I think that rumored open world 3D Mario especially is holding things up, Nintendo's had a lot of problems with past open world games causing multiple delays (see: BotW and TotK), and 3D Mario is hugely important to the lineup to the point where they might not want to launch without it so they're pushing the entire console back.

Right now, Wikipedia says that the Switch is the 3rd highest selling console at 143 million sold. The DS is second with 154 million sold and the PS2 is highest with over 155 million sold. The Switch is 12 million away from being the highest selling console. My theory is, that they delayed announcing anything for the Switch 2 before the holiday season in order to close that gap because once they do make that announcement, sales will slow down. Parents won't buy a Switch console and then a Switch 2 console within months of each other. Nintendo wants to hit that all time sales mark. If they announce something in mid January after the holidays with an August/September release date, it wouldn't surprise me.

I personally don't really care about the news behind the switch 2. I just got my nintendo switch last year for christmas (yes I was VERY late to the ball), and I have enjoyed it as is. I'm actually pretty happy that games are still being made for it, whether by Nintendo themselves or by other developers. If I ever do decide to get the Switch 2 when it's available, it'll probably take me a while again to actually get it, simply due to the fact that the switch is still going. Some franchises may have ended, and new ones are just beginning, but I'm still enjoying what the switch is capable of. So, if the Switch 2 ever, and I mean EVER, gets a proper reveal trailer and release date, kudos to all of y'all who have been rooting for it. I'll just be enjoying the games I never got the chance to play before on my switch until I can't find any more games worth playing, or until it breaks

In all fairness to SamusHunter, stating "many more titles planned for the first console" on October 28th isn't really something to hang your hat on as trustworthy-leaker material, just an obvious conclusion to make. Nintendo had already told third parties not to expect the console this fiscal year, so April was earliest we'd have likely seen it. That meant games for January, February, and March would all be Switch 1, and none of them were highly expected to be either Pokemon Legends Z-A or Metroid Prime 4, so we've known since the August Direct that there were probably at least five Switch 1 titles in 2025. Five qualifies as "many" in my book, so predicting this two months after the fact doesn't really impress me much. SamusHunter got the Xenoblade Chronicles X leak right though. If you want to follow the "app itself is a teaser" post as trustworthy, I guess that's worth something. But I'm not sure how much value being just one day ahead of official announcement really is. Furthermore, there were enough rumors about Xenoblade X being under development that I had it on my possible reveal list for September Direct, before the late August announcement came and said it was only a Partner Direct. So its been on the radar for a while and I thought we'd see it in January Direct if it were a real project and not just rumor mill churn. And I'd already told some of my friends that if Nintendo hadn't announced the console reveal by Tuesday, they'd have to announce something else Tuesday or Wednesday to strengthen the outlook before the investor meeting (because Alarmo wasn't enough to overcome terrible hardware or software sales numbers), probably naming the February and/or March title. This is exactly what's happened, so doesn't seem like that big of a leap of faith. If you want educated guesswork, well I've been saying Nintendo World Championship: SNES Edition is February release for a month and a half. I have no proof and I'm not leaking anything because I don't have any inside source. I'm just looking at the facts that they have a game called "NES Edition" implying another edition will someday arrive, we were past September and Nintendo had named the January title but not February (and have now named March, which only strengthens my case), whatever February's title is likely would impact the sales of something relatively new that's being marketed heavily this holiday (which NES Edition is), and Nintendo only gave 30 days notice on NES Edition between June Direct and July release, so they'd be capable of running a similar timeframe between the January Direct and February release window. If I'm wrong and it ends up being a Kirby remake or something else, then I'm wrong. But if I'm right, I hope no one comes to me thinking I'm leaking inside sources. Its just guesswork base on existing public information. Kudos to SamusHunter if that's how they arrived at conclusion XCX was about to be announced, but as far as being a really daring leak.. not so much in my opinion. I hope their future upcoming leaks are more juicy.
