when I first watched AOT when we found out titan shifters existed I was certain that the armoured titan were Reiner as both Annie and Eren looked like their titans and Reiner looked like the armoured.

Exactly. They dreamed of the moment they would be free of the walls and titans and look upon the sea with their own eyes. But when the time came, the moment was completely hollow since Eren realized they had only just arrived at the beginning of the problem, not the end.

Another sad detail in that scene is related to the scene where Ramzi gets crushed you can see his teeth getting pushed out of his skull from the pressure. The teeth and hair that Eren picked were Ramzi's

I caught that quickly. It embodied how Armin and Eren viewed the sea. The sea is supposed to represent time. Eren is always looking at the endless horizon. Aka, the future. That he forgot to look at what is on his feet. And Arming immediately looked at what he could find beneath his feet. And never even realized the horizon that lies ahead

yeah that’s basically what the shell symbolises, eren looks ahead in his strive for freedom never once thinking about how the present moment could bring him meaning or happiness, armin however appreciates small and big moments like these and realises the significance of them in a cruel world, armin is able to see that shell for what it is, and appreciates it, he holds it, eren however doesn’t even look that way, completely unaware of the shell’s existence just like how he ignores any moment of happiness because in his eyes it has no meaning until he’s achieved “true” freedom

Eren in Season 1: (in the courthouse on his trial) You're so intent on pushing selfish agendas, you're blind to what's in front of you. Eren in Season 3: points out to sea while Armin finds a seashell. Eren in final chapter: sees Armin's seashell during their final conversation.

Another sad detail? Season 2 episode 4. 1 small titan starts playing and ripping apart the ear of another. 2 small titans… Connie’s siblings who got turned into titans, and no one noticed it was them.

this is literally PROVABLY not true. if you stay past the credits of the final episode of season 3, S3 E22 “The Other Side of the Wall”, you can see eren looking out a window, holding the shell. he’s absolutely seen it before.
