In Dead Space 2 when you’re going through the elementary school. You eventually make your way into the gym/auditorium/lunchroom and you can clearly see where a barrier wall was activated to protect the kids from the necromorphs. Unfortunately upon further inspection you see little bloody hands all over the wall from where the necromorphs made it inside the barrier and essentially slaughtered the trapped children. Also the crying baby that was left to die and the player could do nothing but listen.

To be honest you could make a video just about sad details in dead space 2. In the example you mention you can actually read on logs how kids are becoming more aggresive though they say is "probably" because of being risen in space but we know it was the marker, they seem to also scribble the marker symbols around. So pherhaps some kids just killed each other behind the blast doors instead of necromorphs getting in.
