I’m not on either side but, the admins have jobs so they have to be paid something. Jirards implication of wanting to sue the two individuals that brought their failure to light shows that he cared more about his image as a content creator than doing the right thing. I guarantee that if Jirard said in his response video that he doesn't hate them for investigating (even if it was a lie) that it would have resulted in far less backlash. It was a poor decision to imply aggression against his critics when they provided legitimate evidence/receipts for his gross incompetence. The second wave of backlash he is getting for that maneuver is 100% justified. With that being said I do respect oompaville's take that people should watch both videos then formulate their own opinion even despite acknowledging a more personal connection/bias towards Muta's side.

The problem is, that the Complitionist did not disclose, that the money was held back for one huge restricted donation. Instead, He made claims to have helped so many different organizations already. Leading people to believe, that the money would be passed on. In reality, the money would only go to one organization only after he was pressured and after it degraded/rotted in an account for a decade. People would have been better off sending that money directly to the organizations, that Jirard claimed to have worked with. In this Discord call, he told a different story, than what his public response tells. He claims to have found out only years later about the money being held back, but now he is acting as if this was the huge plan from the beginning. If it was, why did he not disclose that? As for his Mom, it is sad, that he uses her name to keep earning trust and sympathy for an operation, that nobody should trust.

Everyone is always quick to claim they will sue for defamation... until they find out about the discovery phase, where the defendants can dig up all the possible evidence that what they said was actually true. Usually, about then, most defamation lawsuits get dropped or never filed. Better make sure your defamation threats are real, or expect to have all your skeletons brought out, and if you actually did what they claimed you did, it WILL become public record.

The problem about the restricted funds thing is that the whole idea of the money not going to salaries, operating expenses etc. is incredibly shortsighted and selfish. Research is a massive undertaking, especially in the medical field and if NONE of the funds given by charity are allowed to go to the actual logistics of running the operation then guess what? Not a whole lot can be done on the actual research side of things either. So either way the money just sits doing nothing. And also while 600k has rightfully been called out by people in the know as not a hugely significant amount in terms of what it can do for medical research it is also WAY over what needs to be collected in a lump sum to make a restricted donation if you wanted to. They could have easily made restricted donations every year off of just what Indieland made annually and because it wouldn't depreciate that way it actually would have went much further.
@ard-net2999
@ard-net2999 6 ай бұрын
It's also incorrect. But you make an excellent point, gotta pay the support stuff, one infuriated me about the whole claim he made about wanting to restrict it. But you heard his statement "or came with huge admin fees", see Restricted is kind of misleading. Say I donate to red cross, restrict it to say "housing people after fires". it can only be used for that program, not "housing people after hurricane". Some General Administration costs are allowable and all restricted donation's program administration costs are allowable. So that 600k isn't going to just researcher salary and equipment as much as he would like to make it seem.

This, Karl having to fight one bearded man child is bad enough, he doesn't need to have to fight two bearded man children, also, saying it out loud right now is kinda ironic when I think about it

Completionist was on the board for the charity. They had board meetings. The state of accounts would have been in the minutes. He is full of it when he says the money was never donated.

I see some irony in being a foundation focused around dementia, "forgetting" to donate the money. Also I think Jirard stepping away from the foundation has to be a decision from the foundation to remove the source of criticism, I think people need to keep an eye on the foundation beyond this, there could be shadier people on their staff.

Since I had never watched a single Completionist vid I had 0 knowledge of any of this but Muta is based so I'm incllined to trust him.

Just watch the videos. You could have no idea who any of these people are and know Muta is right. The guy lied for years about what was being done. Its all on video and backed up by public financial statements.

Before the story broke, The Completionist had 1.63m subscribers. It has since dropped to 1.59m. That's only a 40,000+ drop. I predict it will drop rapidly once he starts posting game-related content in all seriousness again.

Not sure, those game reviews got nothing to do with it. In order to cause a massive drop in subs like Blair's, his videos need to be reveled as absolute lies. Show that his whole idea of Completing games to show if it's worth it is a fraud in itself. He must not only be lazy to where he never actually completed these games, but also been plagiarizing from other sources. In other terms he must be a complete hippopotamus in EVERY way. Do this with solid evidence and I will have enough of a reason to unsubscribe him without too much of a cost.

@@fechaqui9513 A bank statement would immediately quell embezzlement questions. Then they only need to explain why it took so long. But Jirard couldn't do that. Because I think the bank statement isn't as clean as they want to say it is.

This is the most level-headed take on the subject. Other coverage on this was dramatized beyond what I could take seriously. Very well done, earned my sub.

I just want to say that I'm proud of how mature you've been in covering this (and many other subjects), maybe a little biased - whether it's agreed on by others or not who cares, but you've also been very honest about your biases. I couldn't have picked a better person/team to cover this and do their best at giving an honest summary from all sides. Great job in keeping us all informed, while remaining entertaining without muddying the facts.
