One I rarely see people mention, which absolutely breaks my heart but is a stunning film is Lilies. I'm new to your channel, so maybe you've mentioned it at some point. But it has the saddest ending

And the Band Played on, Longtime Companion, and Silverlake Life the View From Here are equally if not more heartbreaking than many of these and the last one is the most difficult to watch because it wasn't made with actors.

Beautifully done. Despite, of the films you highlight, I've seen only Brokeback, I wept for them all. Okay, I'm a weeper when it comes to sad movies. Nicely done, my man.

Burning Blue is my Holding the man. I love that movie so much but I can't bring myself to watch ever again.

Never has any movie affected me like Burning Blue. I didn't cry I bawled so hard I even scared my husband. I can't even watch clips of it without crying. Also Firebirds was another sad ending film.

Dream boy is one of the most UNFAIR endings, the protagonist desserved such a good life and for him to end up like that… abused, used, raped and killed …. just such a raging sad but mostly UNFAIR ending….

weekend is one of the best gay movies ever and also sad in its own way. sauvage is devastating, portraying young and lost male prostitute, it is really harsh to watch and has a sad ending. i am surprised that the mudge boy is not on the list, the performances in that movie are heartbreaking a couple of times. and i watched a few days ago close, its not explicitily a gay movie, but oh my god :(

I have heard that weekend is quite sad as well

One that I've watched more times than I can say and I cry throughout is, It's My Party, also based on a true story which you learn about in the commentary on the DVD.

Even though I loved the cast and Eric Roberts was extraordinary, I could not really bear it more than the one time. Maybe someday I'll have the courage to rewatch.

Timothee Chalamet, not Timothy Hall
@davidburbage33482 ай бұрын
Yeah, where'd he come up with "Hall"? Is that "Chalamet" in English, or was he just afraid to try and pronounce it? lol But OMG that was sad....and struck close to home. But I haven't been able to watch "Brokeback Mountain" since I saw it in the theatre. 😭

More movies with a sad or a tragic end are: undertow (2009), free fall (2013), the blonde one (2019), david's birthday (2009), Soulbound (Teus Olhos Meus) (2011), Before the Fall (Napola - Elite für den Führer) (2004).
