This scene is purely amazing. Like how Nina didn't understand what her father did wrong and how she just wanted her father to be happy. How she truly cared for her father. Because when Scar killed her father she cried even in her Chimera form. Her humanity was still intact not knowing how her father destroyed her life.

For me it's how it set the tone of the series and asked a very important question at the start of the story: "What kind of alchemist is Edward?" It tells us his morals and values and he will do anything to not be like this kind of scientist. Which he does follow through with throughout until the very end. And the little details like you said, how a child will cry for their parent even though the parent did them wrong and hurt them. Such great writing.

Yeah... Edward could have used his Alchemy to put Nina's soul in a doll or something until he got a philosopher stone and fixed her... or changed that chimera girl into a furry beast human like other chimeras... But no... they gave up and basically told Scar: "here, put her down. We literally aren't going to try anything to help this girl. We give up... but we are still going to try to fix our limbs and get Alphonse's whole body back from the void.... so... we ain't got time for Nina and her dog!"

@@lolololol7573 Tell that to Lust regenerating a whole body from nothing. Or Pride eating whole humans or Father making immortal bodied. Or Ed somehow getting into Pride's stone and not dying. Or a lizzard Envy having the conciousness of a human despite being inches tall or less. Or Alphonse having his whole body gone but haunting a suit of armor. This show gets really looney Tunes by the end and you are trying to complain that I refuse to believe that something done with Alchemy can't be undone with Alchemy?! That is exactly what the show is about: how using Achemy carelessly destroyed lives, yet using alchemy with godlike skill can fix anything. Alphonse didn't get his body back by cloning his body with science and putting his soul back in with some religious ritual. It was alchemy that did it.
@ishmaaelbloodreaper6395
@ishmaaelbloodreaper6395 9 ай бұрын
@@julianmarco4185 You definitely misunderstood the premise of Fullmetal Alchemist. They definitely show just how amazing alchemy can be and what it can achieve, but in doing so they also demonstrate the folly of relying wholly on this science. There are a wealth of examples in the story, but I think the best foundational example is the brothers' original attempt at human transmutation: the resurrection of their mother. There, they researched diligently, measured accurately, and performed the alchemy perfectly. What did they get for their result? A soulless thing, reflected in grotesque body horror. Obviously, their understanding was incomplete, and you can make the argument that they needed more research so they can re-attempt the transumtation. But later in the story, the brothers' are caught flat-footed when a pregnant woman goes into labour. Their alchemy wasn't going to help in that situation, but luckily their childhood friend Winry was there to help the labour process along; not without alchemy, but through midwifery. It is in that episode that the brothers realise how awesome nature creating humans without alchemy are. The audience is also invited to compare birth with human transmutation. Alchemy requires some knowledge and ingredients only, but it leads to disaster. Childbirth is difficult, but a human with a soul is born. With the above examples alone, you can easily reach the conclusion that alchemy, while useful, can be an addictive shortcut to horrifying catastrophes. There are some things that alchemy should not be allowed to touch (e.g. human transmutation, which incidentally is outlawed in the story) and for nature to run its course. Don't believe me yet? You mentioned Lust, Gluttony (I'm assuming, as Pride doesn't make a habit of eating humans) and Envy, all homunculii that are the embodiment of the pinnacle of alchemy. Lust killed Mustang and Havoc easily, and sought to kill Riza. However, just when it seemed hopeless, it turned out that Mustand survived, cauterised his and Havoc's wounds, and burned Lust into ashes. You could that was because flame alchemy trumps Lust's alchemy-borne powers, but that doesn't explain how and why he managed to survive long enough to win. The correct takeaway is that Mustang was willing to go that far for his loved ones. Incidentally, the way Lust dies is an irony: she is lust, but it is love that defeats her. And this irony is extended to the other homunculii. Gluttony ate other humans, but died being eaten by another. Envy was an androgynous shapeshifter who can become anyone he wanted, which he used to hurt and kill humans, but at the end of his life he was an ugly little thing who didn't want to admit to being envious of humans for being determined to be better. The point is that alchemy has limits, and cannot fix everything. This irony goes even further with human alchemists. Alphonse was "haunting" a suit of armor, but the point was that he is unable to feel warmth of anything (including a mother's warmth, which was his punishment from Truth/God); but he found many friends and companions along his journey that warmed him irregardless. Izumi attempted human transmutation on her stillborn son (to the same horrifying result) and for her troubles lost her reproductive organs to Truth/God; but she became a surrogate mother to her apprentices the Elric brothers. Mustang both figuratively (and later literally) lost his sight; but in both instances Riza helped him overcome his blindness. Scar was a vengeful murderer who hated and was trapped by the use of alchemy; but he embraced his deceased's brother's alchemy research to help the country that destroyed his and was redeemed in the process. Edward lost his arm and leg to human transmutation; but both literally and figuratively he found someone he could lean on in the form of Winry, his automechanic and later wife. Therefore, to add to the earlier point, alchemy has limits and cannot fix everything, BUT BEING HUMAN CAN MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE. What does all of this have to do with Nina's condition? When you find yourself in a hole, you don't say "I know! I'll DIG my way out". Same thing applies to Nina's condition; you have no idea how much more terrible Nina's situation could be when human transmutation is performed again. A horrible thing happened to her, yes, but that does not mean she should be defined by it, nor should she be denied companionship as a result. Or, in other words, you pull yourself out of the hole, and if the hole is too deep to pull yourself out of, have others help you out of the hole.

What’s the worst thing about this to me is that Nina’s innocence shines through. Despite having something this horrific done to her, she still shows some sort of worry for the man that did such an awful thing to her. She doesn’t realize the gravity of the situation and it’s heartbreaking. I really do think the most evil thing one could ever do is commit appalling acts on a child. They are too good for this world and need to be nurtured and protected. Violating that shows me that you don’t have a soul.

It's slightly worse than you might realize, because many dogs have unconditional love; so it's both of their love for their father in one body that refuses to yield. So while everyone might feel that the beating is deserved, neither Nina nor Alexander would never accept it.

This was such a chilling, sad scene - even more so as Ed eventually figures out what Tucker really did. He went from "wow, that actually worked" to "hold on" to "YOU BASTARD!!!". Poor guys actually spent so much time with that girl just so it could be irreversibly destroyed by that monster of a man. Every child deserves a parent, not every parent deserves a child.

What made this even more depressing is that *he didn't even have to make Nina and Alexander into a chimera*. There were already soldiers who could change into their human and animal forms at will already. It was Shou's hunger for fame and ambition that led him to do this.

One of the most complex and well written stories with best ending. At first you think wth is happening but as the story unfolds and the climax takes place ❤️ It's a masterpiece. Every character has it's significance rather than highlighting one character to make him famous.

the unsettling background music, the cold narration of the scientist, the weak belows of ed..ward.. all building up to the tension of those two dreaded words "big brother". And when confronted with the fact ed himself has done human experimentation you see him fighting so hard to distance himself from the truth. The truth that he did try and fiddle with someones life and he made others pay for his actions. Ed knows his motives are different, but he can't cope with the reality that what he did was wrong and is wanting so hard for what he(edward) is saying to be true. 100000/10 a true masterpiece

Actually hell is the worst punishment you can receive. We only think of torture in the human perspective. The tortures of hell work on the spirit and any pain felt by the flesh is much less painful than wounds inflicted on the spirit. The punishment Tucker is to take will be so horrific that any earthly torment would be bliss. There's no way anything could follow up on that. To quote Castiel from supernatural pertaining to Sam's soul: "you do not want that thing back inside of him, it looked like it had been flayed alive"
