"I told him I didn't want any breakable parts. I wanted it just like this. I wanted removable straps so I could use them. I wanted functionality, I wanted simplicity. Anyway, he made it... and I was so disappointed."
And that's how it all started.
Fast forward 20 years and that disappointed first design has evolved into designs featured by Rolls-Royce, collaborations with Toyota, and hundreds of attempts by others at knocking off a Saddleback bag.
The new video series, SLEDS, will give you an inside look at Dave's design process and stories that make Saddleback what it is today.

It hard for me to believe I bought my first breifcase from you in 2004, still using it to this day! My son has already laid claim to it, when I return to the dust from which I came. Your products are the best in the world Dave, and I look forward to the next 20yrs to see what you come up with. Godspeed.

Fantastic Dave. You are always improving your designs, you are more of a bag engineer as you care about the durability of the materials while the leather aesthetic speaks for itself. I love the different alleyways of inspiration you combine into your designs. Thank you

I love these products, I have been buying from them before the move to Ft Worth as I needed the function. They cover all the Bässe from ear pods to iPad cases to carriers.

I will NEVER AGAIN buy another product from this company …. NEVER AGAIN. EVER. Well at least that’s what I keep trying to tell myself 😂😂😂😂. I have purchased 48 pieces from SBL for myself, wife, and daughter over the past 16 years. We have only had one product that wasn’t stellar (boot leather iPhone case that SBL went above and beyond to rectify). I will NEVER AGAIN buy another product from this company …. NEVER AGAIN. Even though I just made a purchase last month😂😂😂.

I once tried to talk myself into that as well. I have failed very happily! I am not at your level yet, but you just gave me a goal 😂 Amazing that I bought my first SBL breifcase back in 2004. Still using it everyday. My son has already laid claim to it when I return to dust.
