Interestingly, Prof Ansre became both my college as well as house mate, when in1951, the 1st ever Post-Sec- 2yr certification program was established at the Akropong Presby Teachers' Training College. I, Nana Timothy Aye Kusi, 94yrs now, was undertaking the 4yr certification program. We both graduated in 1992 and sent to teach within Ghana. Prof Ansre further studied Religion & Linguistics whilst l studied Economics and Business Administration. Best regards to you. Prof! I'm seeing and hearing you for the 1st time since we left Akropong in 1952.

What a great conversation. Can you please create a playlist of all the sage’s conversations? Also great job by the host allowing the stream of consciousness to flow. It was really enjoyed.

What was great in the conversation? Telling kids to study in African languages??? Where is the teaching material? Where are the reference books? You want to make Africans dull.

This is a mind-blowing interview. However the Rev. Prof left the issue of whether we should have a national language as medium of instruction hanging by pointing out the practical difficulties. As a simultaneous conference interpreter may I suggest that domestication of content can be the way out by tapping into the polyglotism of Africans? The teaching of our own history, culture, heritage as well as STEM right from primary school all the way to university could empower students more than if we had a national language medium of instruction but continued with a colonial curriculum. Thus the use of Bible translation as a way to promote our languages could be counterproductive as it perpetuates religious imperialism. Christianity might have done some good things but has also done a number of bad things too many to list. BTW, two countries that went for teaching in national language from primary to university but reversed course are Tanzania with Swahili and Malaysia with Bahasa. Also in Singapore the universities using English a medium of instruction performed better than the one using Chinese and this during Lee Kuan Yew's time. Thus, we could cut the gordian nut by radically changing our educational content ie making it more locally relevant. My tuppence.

I didn't hear anything extraordinary, except that both tried to force British English out of themselves, to no avail.
