I was a young backpacker in Asia when this album dropped. I remember bying the cassette in a music shop in Singapore. The next day I took a boat to an island that belonged to Indonesia, and afer a couple of more days of waiting took a slow boat up a river into Sumatra. I played the Disintegration album over and over and over (as Robert would say and sing) as I watched the jungles along the river's edge slowly pass by. I was in my own world transported there by the magical sounds of this album, which ultimately became the soundtrak to my entire trip through Asia. a journey that would last over 14 months. To this day, whenever I hear any of the Disintegration songs I am immediately transported to the joungles of Sumatra, or riding the rails in India, or sitting still while taking in the breathless heights of the Himalaya in Nepal. This music is balm for the soul . . .

I agree. The Cure are just so intelligent with regard to the human condition. In my darkest moments they resonated more than anyone. Since the 70s they have been one of my go to bands. Saw them in 2019 at the Sydney Vivid festival doing the whole Disintegration album. Bucket list stuff. Such a thoughtful, interesting and clever bands. Love them always.

Well, I got 53, and discover The Cure may be with my 16 or 17 years old. They made part of my live. They are not my favourite band, but still on my mind and life since there... What a sound. What a Cure. With that band and many others ( The Waterboys, Dead Can Dance, U2, Morcheeba, among others ...), I belive that life is something that deserves to be lived. Thanks The Cure !!!!

56 years old here! Yes "The Cure". They mean so much to me and especially. Because my new lover of 15 months now. We recently cross path after a 30 something years hiatus. The First time I saw here was something like 35 years ago. When she was travelling to my Magdalen Island. She was like me around twenties years old, at the moment. She was hitchhiking. I was playing a "The Cure" cassette in my car. It was "Love at first sight" right away. The biggest crush of my life. She was already taken and faithful at the moment. So, we did stuff for gives and takes 3-4 days. As I was doing a lot of Black & White photography at the time. Once afternoon we where together at a Fishing Harbour. I took 2 pictures of her. She didn't want me too. At the moment of taking the picture, she putted her hand in front of her face. and she turn her back away. So, I shot another picture from that point of view. She left by plane to go back to her live in Montréal, Canada. And I never heard of her again. Then in the fall of 2021. I was separating from my Ex. Off almost thirty years. I had just sold my share of the house to her. I was going to move out only the next May in the year of 2021. I had raised three healthy sporty children. That are greats adults. Of whom twins girls and my eldest is a boy. I was doing some cleanup in my negatives. And I stumbled on the 2 negatives in questions. And suddenly her name came back to my memory, Marike. My brain is like, kind of a photographic computer. Has her full last name is compose by two name and it is not an easy one. I’m an It Guy. So, I look for her name online. And I found a Facebook page. With some rare pictures that was looking like her. She was a few times photographed. With a younger man looking in his early twenties. I send her a friend request explaining the situation, she accepted me. We exchange messenger chatted sporadically until spring of 2021. Then around March everything accelerates. At the moment I was always waking up really early like 4-5 in the morning. I was only stating work at 9:00 and around an hour away from my office. So, I was writing her really long detailed email about me my life and all my passions. She was doing the same. Some after a month she declared her loved to me. I had the same feeling for a while. But I didn’t want to rush anything. Or scare her away. So, we continue the live our love for three months writing each days each others longs elaborate emails. Like the “Liaisons Dangereuses” famous book. It is called an epistolary, love story. I move out off my house May 1st, for an apartment I rented. One week after I when on a holiday plane trip. To see my mother and other family members. While I was there, I was living at my youngest brother house. He had separated a few years ago. Me and the love of my life. Used to talk on the phone a lot. A given Saturday to Sunday night, we even talked for around 7 hours straight. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. I didn’t have a girlfriend in my teenage years. Those moments where so memorable to me. It was really wonderful to relive those youthful years. Suddenly my heart was sixteen again. We only met physically though; we exchange pictures. Then we finally met for my Birthday. Since than it is the most wonderful year of my life. Sometime life gives you great gifted. I am totally found of her. And she his calling me her “Viking God”. Finally, what a man can ask for more?

Like Robert once said:" music business is a conspiracy of bad taste..." But in time The Cure will survive because their music is art and will stand the test of time.Even today their early work still sounds avant-garde and way beyond anything that other people accomplish.I almost listen only to the cure, all else is a sorry excuse for music, some exceptions not mentioned

This type of lyric itself is a poetry, a fervent declaration of the purest love and longing that can be felt, nowadays nobody is interested in this type of songs because they live daily in the superficiality in the vanal and meaningless, believing that it is true love, they are not interested in knowing what is very deep down in the same deep waters of someone they love

I wish all of their recordings were this dynamic, and 'Plus' has added compression. The original Entreat is one of the best raw live recordings out there. In fact, its sonics trump the band's studio album. Ironically, it actually sounds like a studio album more than the studio album itself...drawing you deeper into the experience as if you were right there!

Lyrics: Kiss me goodbye Pushing out before I sleep Can't you see I try? Swimming the same deep water as you is hard The shallow drowned lose less than we The strangest twist upon your lips And we shall be together And we shall be together Kiss me goodbye bow your head and join with me And face pushed deep, reflections meet The strangest twist upon your lips And disappear, the ripples clear And laughing break against your feet And laughing break the mirror sweet So we shall be together So we shall be together Kiss me goodbye Pushing out before I sleep It's lower now, and slower now The strangest twist upon your lips But I don't see, and I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes your smile The very last thing before I go The very last thing before I go The very last thing before I go I will kiss you, I will kiss you I will kiss you forever on nights like this I will kiss you, I will kiss you

I really understand the meaning of this song, at least I think so.Years and years ago after having Pfeiffer and Toxoplasmosis I was so tired, could sleep from 22.00 hours up to 9.00 hours and again from 13-16.00 hours. Come out of bed and still feeling tired. My wife could take the world on her shoulders, me that was always fit and strong ‘could not swim the same deep water’ as she did. It felt I was loosing grip on things and live. Never got 100% over it but no-one sees or notices it. This song makes me feel it is about these kinda things when you cannot keep up with other people.

I'm a Boris fan and understand the respect but.....Simon and Jason, together, put a lock-down (excuse the pun) on the foundation of the tracks that bring a weightiness to the sound of newer Cure material as well as their live older renditions. He has finesse yet impact and power when needed. No, he is not the imaginative percussionist that Boris is but he is a fresh perspective and more fitting for the direction Robert and Simon wanted to take the band. Boris was just done. He seemed to not want any part of the glam, fame and touring aspects of this business. This wasn't his arena so to speak and he was more of a studio musician who enjoyed the creative pursuits of the biz more so than the performance part of it. This is my take and understanding from some people I've talked with over the years.
