You are lucky! Good weather and access to darker skies from your home (I live in Toronto area, so Bortle 8-9). When I was on my honeymoon in 2018, the last place we stayed was on the Big Island and I was blown away looking up at the night sky, seeing colours. I took one pic with my Fujifilm XT2 camera and an F4 lens and have always been blown away from what I captured in one shot (I wasn’t into astrophotography till about 4 months ago). Can’t wait to get access to even darker skies again now that I have an interest in this hobby.

I only have a Seestar S50 (had it for about 3 months now), and have seen a big difference. While I’ve been amazed by what I could get from backyard / driveway in a Bortle 8-9 (Brampton, ON) … a darker sky at Bortle 4 (about an hour drive north west of me), I was blown away from what I captured from 3 nights ago in that darker sky. I went from thinking “this little unit is cool, nice to able to do capture stuff” to “OMG, this thing is amazing … I need to have a plan to get out here every clear night I can”. For context I have 5 hours from several nights at home of the Orion Nebula from my driveway, and compared it to just the other night’s 2 hrs and 40 mins from a Bortle 4. Mind boggling improvement (I used mosaic feature on the seestar for the dark sky, which really means each panel exposure has 9 times less exposure of light).

Over the past few years have returned home for the final times and over 35+ years, you see maybe 1/4 of what was once present in the night sky. Nothing surpasses the personal calm and peace while sitting under a canvas of stars.
