Sampling in music has always been very interesting to me. So in today's video, to celebrate the arrival of my Hologram Plaza vinyl, I thought I'd break down every sample from this vaporwave gem.
Hologram Plaza is a mallsoft album, and while it isn't too immaculate in terms of its production's technicality, the slowed down, drowned-in-reverb songs on this album get the job done really well. It feels like you're walking around an abandoned shopping mall. While Disconscious hasn't made anything since releasing this album back in 2013, he definitely made a name for himself.
This album was the one that really got me interested in vaporwave so it holds a special place in my heart. Making this video really helped me appreciate how eclectic and unique the sample choices were!
This video might be a one time thing, I'm not really sure. But at the same time I'm pretty proud of how it turned out and hopefully it's interesting to watch.
