I download maps to that secondary (back-up) phone with wifi, or sometimes, when necessary, I tether to my primary phone. Although tethering really burns through both the data and the batteries.

I like your option with the Samsung tablet. What I am trying to understand is the power connection for the Active 3. Are you using a USB connection on the right-side in your video?

Yes, on the right side of the bike, under the side panel, there is an auxiliary power supply. I wired a 3.1 Amp usb connector into that, then plugged the tablets power cord into the USB

I have this setup, my 2 complaints are 1 that it sticks out pretty far and 2 I worry about it breaking off after many miles.

So, I can report, that after 37,000 on the road, 16 countries and 205 days, the tablet and the holder survived the trip quite nicely. The Brodit mounting swivel is a bit under-engineered IMHO, but it did make it. Once I got home, I did rig up a new mount to the cross-bar, such that it wouldn't swivel. Not once on the trip, did I need to swivel the table to the portrait mode anyways...just not required. However, I also use the tablet on my enduro bike for Rally's (not competitive Rally's, just fun ones) and that requires that the tablet is mounted in Portrait mode to run the digital rally App. So in that case, I use the swivel mount. But again, when riding very rough terrain, the swivel tends to move, which isn't good when you're trying to navigate and ride. So, I'll be going to a mounting it in a non-swivel format in portrait mode on the enduro bike.
