love the pyramid ..I have a question. I been using stainless stew pots for crucibles...I have a clay graphite crucible but cannot afford lifter tongs at the moment...The crucibles made from stew pots are thin stainless steel but fail. If i could get a thick solid stainless pipe and weld a bottom in it, would it last? Also I have melted holes in cast iron pots when I used coal for fires.. What am I doing wrong?

If you have a graphite crucible I think you should use that, use the money and time you would put in making the stainless pipe with the rod and make a lifter instead. Coal can burn up to 3500F°/2000C° which can melt holes to a cast iron pot, use some insulation, rock wool or ceramic wool.
