Leaves have diminishing returns the more of them there are hence why simply covering a plant in leaves isnt giving it a massive energy profit

A purple plant would work if the sun emitted strong green light and weak, unstable blue and red light. The purple would reflect blue and green and absorb green, yellow, etc.
