The thing that stands out for me is a few episodes ago, DreamStat told Louis he wouldn’t come to kill him until he was happy. They had one moment of happiness in that cafe and boom, here he is.

You hit the nail on the head with "performative couples' mask." That's the most based description of Armand and Louie I've heard. They're trying to make me mad at Santiago but I'm finding it hard because, BEN DANIELS!! I think the things that were reported stolen in this episode will be important next episode. And next week: Lestat in all his preening glory! Love your commentary as always.

The last 4 episodes of Bridgerton were just lackluster and predictable so I've been paying more attention to IWTV and HOTD season 2. It's good to be in contact with you again!

Claudia and Louis had broken laws, some of which they weren't aware of at the time, but this "trial" isn't about justice or rules, it's about the covens jealousy and petty slites. If it were really about the rules, Lestat would be on trial for making Claudia a vampire. Lestat also may not actually want to be there. In the book, he was there, but he tried to stop them from hurting Louis, and even mourned Claudia.

They actually shot it but cut it out 😭😭😭 There are photos of burnt pampered Tomstat out there. I so wish they included it on the anniversary rerelease this year!!!

Speaking of memory I could have sworn Lestat was there in the movie. But I saw it a long time ago. And of course I've read the books so probably conflated the two in my head... I just want a season 3 where Lestat joins Louis and Armand in Dubai to tell his story to Daniel.

Lestat being involved might provide more reason for Louis to still *be* here, he does love Louis very much and might be there to (surprisingly) actually try to help out.

I have enjoyed your commentaries and love watching your reactions when you realized Lestat was in the house! 😊For those of us who have read the Vampire Chronicles, we knew he showed up in Paris. I wonder at times if it is more fun to Not know what happens with these characters. I am glad their stories are being updated to make it fresh and exciting for us while honoring the richness of Anne Rice’s storytelling.

I think this episode is to movie watchers what the show is for us book readers. We have the info, we know what will happen, but the show somehow get to make us jaw-drop every fucking time. And we all love it bc of that💛

In books Lestat was involved in the trial. But that was because Armand made him do it by force and manipulation. In this show.... I don't know. Does not seem like he is unwilling.

I really hope that the expand of the show to Netflix boosts the series even more in the positive way. I'm so impressed by their performances every episode. Even though I know the general plot due to the mentioned movie, the tidbits added here and there make this much more enjoyable, as the character portrail of many minor characters is much more fleshed out.

Instead of a double-line title this could've just been called Dread and Dramatic Irony the Episode. An hour dedicated to the fact that we know (in part) what's coming next. And is there a leading concept more dread-inspiring than "And here's how Claudia could finally be happy!" Because she HAD finally gotten it. They could've been the happiest vampire pair in creation. Madeleine had a game plan to be the most mentally stable vampire to ever walk the earth! Claudia didn't feel alone anymore and she was closing her diaries and taking herself out of the narrative because of it, but of course the narrative couldn't allow that could it. At least Dubai divorce court featuring Daniel Molloy keeps us buoyed for now until Lestat returns to stage next week, though our leading man looks like he does not want to be there at all.

Lestat was always a part of the trial in the book. Unfortunately, they cut it out of the 94 movie which really was a crime because it's an important event. Too important to cut. I just hope they follow the books in regards to how and why he is there, and under what conditions because all is not as it seems.
