Thank you so much, KZbin can be a tough one to crack into. But if I'm honest, comments like this keep me coming back.

Picked these up after retiring my Triumph 18s. Love the PWRN+ midsole. One of the best foams out there. I’ve found I can really pick up the pace in these if I want. One of the best workhorse daily trainers out there.

I did not run in the Triumph 18 but ran in the 19 and the 20 (changed a lot in the 20). Loved the Ride 17 as a solid daily trainer and it will be hard for me to decide whether to pick up the 18 or try something new.

Great review. So few long term reviews out there. Those beaded tpu midsoles like boost and pwrrun plus are fantastically durable and perfectly suited for daily training.

Thanks, being the shoe geek that I am it can get hard sometimes to keep reaching for the same shoe but it usually is a pretty good indication that I'm a fan of the shoe. And you are right those beaded cpu midsoles seem to last a very long time.

Ride 17 is the most underrated daily trainer out there. Built like a tank and the foam doesn’t degrade too much over the life of the shoe. Great value for money, especially if you can find on sale. Loved the Triumph 20/21 so it was an easy transition for me.

I think the Ride might get caught up in not being super fancy or have crazy new tech that lots of folks look past it when they are looking for a daily trainer. I know for me that might be an issue when I walk into the running shoe store looking for a new trainer and am faced with making the choice between the novablast 5 and the ride 18. Honestly still not sure which of the two would/will pick up.

Great to see a high mileage review. I still have Ride 16 and Triumph 20 in my rotation with over 300 miles each. Been looking at picking up a newer Ride.

Thanks, I skipped the Ride 16, I had the 15 and used it a lot. For me one of the biggest advantages to Saucony putting the tpu midsole in the Ride 17 is that it seems to do better than the EVA that we had in the Ride 15 and 16 in the cold and does not firm up as much. The Ride 17 gained some weight but it was a worthwhile trade off for me.

I always enjoy your reviews! I also have the Triumph 20. I've given up taken it on easy runs. For me, the heel gets in the way and that soft heel gets wobbly. However, it works well for me on steady/tempo runs. I actually feel faster in the Triumph 20 than the Endorphin Speed. The denser and wider footprint in the Rides definitely intrigue me.

Thanks, I can 100% understand where you are coming from. There were times where I felt that in the heel of the Triumph as well when I took it out for recovery runs. Like I mentioned in the video, the Ride 17 feels like a more stable shoe to me and I would say does a little better in terms of stability on those easy runs. It can be a trade off because that usually means the shoe feels a little less fun. Interesting point about the speeds, I was such a big fan of the speed 1, 2 and 3 but for some reason never bothered to pick up the 4.

@@WhatMatterstoMatt Yeah, I did not get along with the Speed 3 at all. I may have bought a half size too big though. Couldn't pick up the pace in that shoe and it wasn't comfortable for steady runs. I was not a fan which shocked me since so many people love that shoe. I would much rather take the Triumph 20 on a tempo run than the Speed 3. The foam in the Triumph 20 feels so good on uptempo runs.

I have novablast 5 which I like, but I do find it kind of squishy or soft which I think long-term I might prefer something like the ride, a bit firmer. I’ve had the triumph 21 and I really liked it. Probably slightly better than the novablast. But the novablast is exciting to run in … that’s why people probably like it a lot

I have yet to run in the Novablast. It seems here in Canada (eastern Canada at least) some shoes take a long time to release and the Novablast 5 is one of them. There is a very real chance that I will walk into the local running store and find that the Novablast 5 and Ride 18 are both there and I only have the budget for one or the other and will spend far to long making a decision on which way to go.

Lmao 😂😂 "from the bottom of my midsole" I'm going to be using that on Strava ❤

It came out of nowhere and now there is an outside chance that I will be using that in every single shoe review moving forward.

How is this shoe for running below the pace of 5?
@WhatMatterstoMatt3 күн бұрын
It can really depend on the runner. If we are talking 5 minutes per km? For me it was able to do that pretty well. For me that would be somewhere just a bit faster than easy pace (not marathon pace but putting in some effort.) I found that it did not do that well when it came to hard reps like 1km repeats, but for fartlek runs, strides, progression runs it worked fine.
