I remember getting caught at lunch time in the pub, by the school principal when in 4th year in 1991, playing pool with the lads and "I used to love her" blasting on the juke box. Great times, great song.

@@rybry5080yes miles better than a bunch of IRA lovin bastards like the wolfetones. Thin Lizzy, Therapy? , Saw Doctors, boomtown rats, Ash all great acts from the WHOLE of Ireland obvs U2 but i never liked their ott arrogance later on.

Why ? Because you say so ? This is the Nick that was coming out of this country while in other countries some of the best and biggest bands were changing the musical history .

I saw this show the night it aired. It was the first album I bought. They played Brussels a few years ago and unfortunately missed them. My children and Village now know their album’s. Crazy to think it’s 30 years ago.

I have fallen for another she can make her own way home And even if she asked me now I'd let her go alone I useta see her up the chapel when she went to Sunday mass And when she'd go to receive, I'd kneel down there And watch her pass The glory of her ass I useta to love her, I useta love her once A long, long time ago I useta to love her, I useta love her once A long long time ago It's gone , all my lovin' is gone It's gone , all my lovin' is gone D'you remember her collecting for concern on Christmas eve She was on a forty eight hour fast just water and black tea I walked right up and made an ostentatious Contribution And I winked at her to tell her I'd seduce her in the future When she's feelin looser I useta to love her, I useta love her once A long, long time ago I useta to love her, I useta love her once A long long time ago It's gone , all my lovin' is gone It's gone , all my lovin' is gone So now you know the truth of it she's no longer my obsession Though the thoughts and dreams i had of her would take six months in confession See i met this young one Thursday night and she's inta free expression And her mission is to rid the world of this sinful repression Then we had a session I useta to love her, I useta love her once A long, long time ago I useta to love her, I useta love her once A long long time ago It's gone , all my lovin' is gone It's gone , all my lovin' is gone It's gone , long , long gone I have fallen for another and she can make her own way home

Landmark song. It all seemed to go falling away from here. The clergy scandals (including two of the biggest names - Cleary & Casey - turning out to have had kids). Legalisation of divorce & homosexuality. The Father Teds in 1996. By the end of the '90s Irish society was unrecogniseable from what it was in the '80s
@724camera36 жыл бұрын
Well said lad. It was a shame that we in the 80s had to go through another 10 years before the country woke up. I hope I'm alive to see the catholic church in Ireland gone forever. A true pure evil.
