Out of everything in this video the one real heart stopping moment for me is seeing Michael and that big yellow recovery vehicle. To see him so many times bite it yet make it out ok, then when he is enjoying life skiing with his family to have such bad luck breaks my heart!😢 praying for Michael and his family. ❤ (R.I.P. Jules💙)

I was at that race in Interlagos, my first ever F1 event. I saw car after car crash in turn 3, including the champ Schumacher. I was soaking wet, remember my shoes were basically all water. Barichello running out of fuel, Alonso huge crash, safety after safety car and a Jordan car winning. Truly surreal!

@@Joseph2302 That makes a slight amount more sense as the tyres were designed to last the entire race (And could go the entire race with the exception of indianapolis) And correct me if i was wrong but you were still allowed to change tyres , you were just penalised for it. But the wet tyre rule forced Drivers to use a tyre in conditions it wasnt designed for. It would be like removing inters and wet tyres from the teams without making any changed to the dry tyres. The no tyre change rule is still stupid tho coz it takes alot of fun out of the races and obviously it caused the whole indianapolis fiasco.
@heitorlgf
@heitorlgf 3 ай бұрын
The 1994 rules changes were also stupid. They thought was a good idea to ban all electronic "driver aids", such as: Active suspension, Anti-lock brakes, Traction control and Launch control. Pilots and cars were not prepared for those changes. 2 pilots died and some others got injured that year.

Check out the 1998 Belgium grand prix geld at Spa Francorchamps. That was absolute carnage which left 13 severely damaged cars. An hour long delay while the track was cleared allowed teams to setup the 3rd spare cars that teams had back then for drivers, unfortunately 4 drivers still couldnt start as they were in teams that had both cars severely damaged so spare car went to the lead driver. Te whole weekend was during a torrential downpour. The estimated cost of parts wrecked back then was $13 Million which in todays money is $24.8 Million.

And that was just the pile up at the start. Mika Salo had already crashed in practice and then there are all the accidents when the race eventually got going. The only team who suffered no damage from that weekend ironically was Jordan the team that won the race

When I saw the conditions pre-race, I put a VHS in and hit record. I think I rewatched about 6-7 times. Classic race. And the thing was, I noticed that Fisichella passed through the debris of Webber's accident to start the extra lap just before Alonso came flying into shot to hit the tyre and bring the red flag. I couldn't believe the mistake had been made. Was happy to see Fisichella lift the trophy 2 weeks later.

Yeah but also the season that got Mark Webber the drive in a Red Bull. That boy put that sluggish POS Jaguar into top ten starting spots it had no goddly right to be in. It showed how fast he could be and the potential if he had a decent car. I remember watching that race and it truly was insane. Four five cars spin out in the rain at the sicane including Webber who did numerous 360s before pulling into line and continued driving when sop many others just hit the wall. Ok so he crashed out eventually as well but it was still spectacular.
