Antoine Griezmann is one of the best forwards of his generation and despite his performances for club and country over the last couple of years, he has been very underrated. He had a fantastic stint at Real Sociedad and had has 2 brilliant spells at Atletico Madrid and has been pivotal to France getting to 3 international finals in the last 4 tournaments, helped them win the World Cup in 2018 and was the best player in the EUROs in 2016 and was excellent for France in World Cup 2022. I've always believed that his lack of trophies have overlooked his incredible achievements as this is a guy who's played on Atletico Madrid and Barcelona yet never won La Liga or the Champions League and he's had some finals heartbreaks as he's lost a EUROs Champions League and World Cup final. In his first stint at Atletico Madrid he was one of the best players in the world carrying their team for 5 seasons yet didn't win a lot of silverware and that caused his performances and achievements to be overlooked even though he was playing at a Ballon Dor level, and yes Kylian Mbappe is the best player on the France national team, Antoine Griezmann has been pivotal to their success as he's the heart and soul of this France team in terms of importance and how they buildup their attack as he's responsible for creating linking up the play working hard for the team sacrificing individual brilliance and there's a reason he hasn't missed a game for the national team since 2017 and that's unreal consistency from him. I know his time at Barcelona didn't work out he was ok but I just felt like he wasn't his usual self even though he had moments of brilliance there here and there, last season he had 15+ goals and 15+ assists the best player in La Liga last season and this season he has 14 goals 2 assists 9 goals in La Liga 5 goals in the Champions League and the likes of Jude Bellingham Kylian Mbappe Erling Haaland Mohamed Salah Lautaro Martinez and Harry Kane have been brilliant, I think Antoine Griezmann has been one of the most consistent players in the world this season and people need to talk about him more and he needs to be seen as a Ballon Dor contender for 2024. Also he should've finished higher than 21st in the 2023 Ballon Dor due to his performances in the last 12 months. His return to Atletico Madrid was met with some challenges as he left the club on bad terms in his first stint, but he has shown us why even when players are at the lowest point of their careers, you can never write them off as he struggled at Barcelona and he's currently playing the best football of his career. He plays for one of the most competitive leagues in the world and because of his lack of team trophies he's not talked about enough and to make matters worse with him not winning a league title, Atletico Madrid won the league in 2021, he was at Barcelona, when Barcelona won La Liga, he was back at Atletico Madrid. He's been unlucky, and just like Harry Kane despite his lack of team success, that doesn't take away just how incredible of a player he is from a talent perspective, and I hope he starts winning trophies with Atletico Madrid because that'll make more people recognize him. Him not winning a league title and his Barcelona shortcomings go against him and it tarnishes his legacy in some sense, regardless he's such a talented player.

Grizi was not a utter failure in Barcelona, despite the genral consensus. He was very crucial in messi's last season at barca, scoring important goals in the copa del rey. He was the only creative force in that deadwood barca team with messi and alba. But his move to barca was more of a strategic failure from barca's pov. You cant put griezmann in a team that already has messi. Grizi is not a striker, he cant play as a winger but barca made him do everything except play in his natural position. When messi left it was his time to shine but barca was too broke by then and had to let him go. I was really looking forward to see grizi pull the strings that season but it could'nt happen.

I remember falling in love while watching him in the 15/16 Season and eventhough he kicked my country Germany out of the semifinals in Euros 2016 my biggest wich was for him to win the whole tournament and heartbreak struck as Portugal undeservedly won the finals. I've always said that griezman is so underrated. Just a couple of weeks ago i told my friend that I thought he was the best performing player in the world at the moment. My friend just laughed and said that it was definately Bellingham. People need to look deeper into Griezmann on the pitch and then they will understand how good he really is. During the world cup he was getting close to no recognition but i was amazed at how well he performed and how he kept the whole team together. I guarantee that without him France would have gotten nowhere near to the final maybe semis at best. Mbappe got love for scoring goals but griezman was all round performing better. he really needs more love and respect.

One of the things that I admire about Antoine Griezmann's game is not just the amount of goals and assists he has which is very remarkable that he has put up a high level of output for club and country, he's also one of the most well rounded attackers we've ever seen. In modern day football, as important as individual statistics are, you should also value influence hard work, the way he gets involved and linkups the play, he's a mix of playmaking technique and work rate which makes him such a complete player and he's also very versatile and excels as a number 10, CF, advanced 8, false 9, he can do a bit of everything. Us as fans can overlook his impact to a team as people tend to value only stats, he offers a lot to this team than just goals and assists, Antoine Griezmann with flying colors has always passed the eye test as he's elite at both scoring creating and also influencing the game. He's 1st in assists for France and 4th all time in goals, 2nd in scoring for Atletico Madrid set to be their all time top scorer and his records and performances speak for itself but his all around game makes him such a unique player and you have to watch him to value his excellence and what he brings to your team. He's not an overrated player, I just think that we would view him differently if he starts winning trophies and had won more.

To be fair, while his national team records are incredible, his club records despite being at times amazing are pretty embarrassaing for a player of his caliber. He pretty much became synonymous with losing. When he came to Atletico they were the La Liga champions. They did reach the UCL final in his second year, but in his 6.5 years there they only won 3 titles: the Europa League, European Supercup and Spanish Supercup. He then went to La Liga champions Barca to play with Messi and Suarez, and in 2 years won the Copa del Rey once. Ironically Atletico won the league in his second year with Luis Suarez as their top goalscorer. Then he return to Atletico only to watch Barca win without him. It's not that he's not great, but something's missing

I'm American and soccer (football) is a sport I didn't initially gravitate to. However, one day in 2014 I saw a video pop up on my KZbin that read "100 Best Dribbles of The Year" and curiosity made me click on the video. The video showed clips from people like Neymar and Hazard (players I would come to love later, especially Hazard because I am a Chelsea fan from that era) but the one that stood out to me was Griezmann. I don't know what it was but his clips mesmerized me so much that I eventually asked my mom to buy me a soccer ball so I could learn his moves (I have played soccer before because I live in a very hispanic area, but it was something I never actively went out to do until that moment) and I have loved the game and his play ever since. I'm so happy that all these years later he is still killing it and even at the top of the world in La Liga right now. It just also comes to show how dominant Messi and Ronaldo were for so long, there were so many players in La Liga who were amazing who just got out shadowed by them and Griezmann was for sure one of those players.

Reasons why Griezmann deserved the World Cup golden ball: 1) he was a top 3 defender, midfielder and attacker in that tournament and I think that trumps just being a top 3 attacker like mbappe and messi. 2) ever since around 1990 the World Cup golden ball has been given as more of a consolation prize to a player on the losing team in the final (with the exception of forlan in 2010 when Uruguay finished 3rd) 3) carried France passed England and morroco by being the one to open us the stubborn defences Tbf need I say more? I probably could if I gave a little more thought but those 3 reasons are valid enough

Evra was a generational left back. Koscielny captained Arsenal and was one of the best defenders in the EPL for 10 years, Umtiti scored in the World Cup final and went to Barcelona and Sagna had the same level of endurance as Kante had at his peak.
