Perhaps, however that might not be a complement to him. I've been watching a lot of interviews with him lately and although he has some very interesting stories, there seems to have been a pattern with McReynolds. He has signed so many contracts and then bolts out early on everything, all relationships.

I routed for Bill since i was a kid and folks were cheering thinking he would win but i wasnt. dad saw me and figured out what his son already knew. all the fords were in the wreck and 3 hendrick cars behind Bill the sitting duck. he apologized to me when we walked out of the track. I've always ben a Larry Mac fan if for no other reason is, he has had to deal with more public tragedy and misery than any crew chief directly under the spotlight out front and he handled it like a true professional. What a great series this has been to watch and no man could have expected more from any human being. i was a Davey fan through and through who I still to this day will swear that he was going to win a championship that tragic year. Then an Ernie fan who got dealt a short stack at Michigan. No matter what happened at RCR he finally got Dale that win at Daytona and that was as good as any championship. but Larry, he was a total class act as a CC and the sport is better off because of his participation without question. And in the booth? I don't know how he put up with DW all those years LOLOLO!!! Tell me he's not a champ for that alone HAHA!

Agreed. I’ll bet Dale wanted that 500 Win more than another Championship too. It was thee 1 thing he still needed so in a lot of ways it was equivalent to getting a Championship and I’d bet you anything Dale would say because of that Race that their time together was a success.

Larry didn’t get that 8th Championship with/for Dale but he did achieve something more important @ that point in The Intimidators career, they Won The Daytona 500 together in Sr.’s 20th try and that was thee 1 thing left for Dales career. That was BiG and honestly I think Dale would tell ya that makes up for it too. Dale wanted that 500 Victory more than an 8th Championship But since he did get that 500 he was most definitely going all in for that 8th Chip In that 01 Season and as well since he has his Daytona 500 Victory that what he wanted more than another Victory was to see Mikey get his 1st career Win and in Dales equipment & then even better with his Son pushing Mikey to the W. Dale went out on top and seeing right out his front driver window was what he wanted more than anything else @ that time 🏁 🚙15 🚗8 🚘3💥 💨

I love Larry Mc when he was in the booth and that Fox team with him & D Dubya & Mike Joy were iconic together imo They were a great trio together. Other than “ BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY! “ That was so lame. “ Let’s GO RACIN BOYS! “ was all Good but not the Boogity BS. Everything else with those 3 together as classic. . They’re Great together and they were great for The Sport. They deserve no blame for the drop off in NASCAR. Jimmy Johnson deserves a lot, the most honesty but that’s combined with all the other BS @ the same time. Those 3 in that Fox Booth was actually great together during the race but D Dub with Boogity to start the race was bad for NASCAR. You couldn’t bring in outside people to watch their 1st race and then they hear that. I know , it happened multiple times to me and it was actually embarrassing because I’d forget until that ish would happen and then I’d have to say “ Oh that’s just being fun. It’s corny but it’s being silly. The rest of the race is great though. Trust me. “ After it starts like that though they’re not trusting you much more. I’d have to say “ Oh That’s just for the kids Is all that is. “ lol But then when I was alone I’d be standing up with my coffee & a blunt yelling “ OOOGITY BOOGITY SCOOBITY SOOBIDY SCOOB!! LETS GO GHOSTEN BOYS!! “ Then I’d sing it just like ol girl 🗣🎶 “ awewwee let’s goooo racinnnnnn boyzzzzz awwweWWEEEE “ 🎶 🎶 🎶

I just never really liked Larry and Dale together, they were good buddies but something just didn't seem right. Dale was also dealing with the injuries from that 1996 crash. With how tumultuous and drama-filled that season was, he ultimately finished 5th in points which is pretty good considering how that year went. But that was perhaps what rankled Dale the most that year, they had some really good runs(Talladega Spring, Charlotte in the fall and Dover and Martinsville in the fall come to mind), but he could never put the car in victory lane.

Dale's 1997 and 1998 seasons were a product of Dale's injuries, not Larry. But man, I wish in 1995 Bill Elliott had signed with the 28 bunch. Because that was an offer on the table. Bill made the bad call to do his own thing.

Like pilots and flight controllers, I think one of the next advancements for racers and auto racing will be a cohesive language between drivers and crew. "Sir, yes sir, copy that" will replace "Gawl dang effin effin' etc." and produce more productive results. I also look toward a ground up redesign with a fresh regard for driver safety from the cockpit to the rollcage. Hint. There is foam involved...lots and lots of foam...
@scjacket6113 жыл бұрын
No, that will never be the case. Comparing the two is silly. The handling and feel of a race car is just that, feel. Flight path coordinates and landing procedures are not.

@TheCrewChief3742 жыл бұрын
Well you might have been able to put a monkey with Dale Earnhardt and at least won a race. Yet a gorilla is a whole different deal. Because if the questioning did not get beyond how the car felt, and not getting to the question of Dale, what do you mean, it does not feel comfortable. Explain to me what you mean by that Dale. Because Larry taken the time to determine that his driver was damaged. Would have saved him a lot of stress attempting to make the car comfortable. Since Larry would have figured out, that it was the driver and not the car. This I know, after being a crew chief for the bulk of 35 years. Is you got to press these drivers to determine what is going on. Which gave me the understanding it was not anything I was doing wrong. It was a malfunction with the driver.
@davidh6818 Жыл бұрын
You've got it all figured out,don't you.Larry Mac has 23 Cup wins,2 Daytona 500 victories and came within a few points of winning the 92 points championship with Davey Allison as well as winning races with several different drivers....I could go on but you get the point.All that being said,what have you accomplished in "35 years as crew chief"that makes you think you're even remotely qualified to question LM?
