Host has one of the best perspectives on 'what ails us' that I have come across. Really comprehensive, thoughtful and a lot of humanity, in his thinking I'm 40 minutes in, host speaking on rejection and inclusion in our society, who do you get to be with, and that is something I struggled with greatly. Felt like I couldn't find any good place to put myself in society, it all seemed crappy and fake. The question it raises: is it the responsibility of my society and culture to provide a place for me, to give me a path I can proudly pursue; or is it my job to harness my ambition and blaze my trail. I think I know the answer. Maybe a big failure of democracy and capitalism highlighted here. Super helpful and fun for me with women has been learning to flirt without any expectations, just for fun, and she doesn't have to be attractive for it to be fun and sweet. Putting out good energy without expecting any payback has mysterious and powerful benefits that I'm experimenting with and learning about. A through current here is no two people live in the same world. What something is for you is not what it is for me.

At the end of the day it isnt your fault, but it is your responsibility to improve your own life circumstances. Having this approach has helped me quite a bit over these last two years. You have the agency to make your life better and taking steps towards getting there provide lots of fulfillment. Capitalism has been around in the US for 200+ years, that isn't the issue it is the shift away from religious values and this focus on hedonism that is the root cause of society being awful these days

I have a very interesting question about the point made about people being more mad about losing $100 than gaining $100: does this take into account all the different increments of happiness gained as the $100 is spent and totaled? Because you can’t do anything if you have lost those experiences but perhaps the happiness is delayed because one knows it will be spent later which causes more happiness overall because it is smaller increments of happiness a large amount of times.
