@@Szczurzyslawa Yeah... I honestly hope I can get to that point. I finally got to be able to live on my own in an apartment earlier this year, more specifically late March of 2022. Still living paycheck to paycheck off of benefits since I can't work due to health reasons. But I have been saving up and have had help thankfully here and there. I also might start making videos of my own sometime soon! Things are looking up a bit. And there's still definitely been times where I've tried my best to implement the health tips Anna mentions in her videos anyway, even though I can't fully do it if that makes sense (for example I can't go outside much sometimes due to stomach pains I'm recovering from). But focusing on the parts I can do has still helped surprisingly quite a bit. Some say that makes all the difference.

The thing is, a good job and money will make us happy because we can't sleep, exercise, and be kind to survive. We need money to buy food, time, and comfort. Not really. Imagine you’re rich and get to do holidays. But you’re so rich you only attract gold diggers and fake people who only love your money and status. You travel each year 5 times or so. It would be boring after few years to go on holiday. You would feel so empty because you can do everything you have wanted after few years. So, going for lots of money is not it. But going for decent money so you can live comfortably and still have the time to save up money for stuff you really want, that’s the real deal for happiness. Because it would make you happy that you were finally being able to pay for those 3 pairs of new shoes or high heels after 2 months of working! It gives you satisfaction for yourself. All that hard work payed off. Cleaning your own home also pays off instead of hiring someone else to do it. Because when you see how clean your house is because of your own work, you would feel so satisfied! So, dream to become middle class instead of upper class ;)

@@truehappiness4U This is such a cope 💀 You can choose if you want gold diggers or not when you're rich. It's not like actually good women would be disgusted by your immense wealth, if anything they'll be more attracted to it because money = safety and security. Your example of happiness as a middle class isn't even really happiness. Your example is more like the rush of dopamine you get when you buy something you always wanted, that's shallow happiness. When you're rich, you can stop caring about the dopamine rushes like buying a new pair of Jordans, because you can get them anytime you like, you instead start caring about deeper and more meaningful happiness; fulfillment. You can practice a passion without any limits, you can share wealth with those you love and make them as happy as you, you can help others and make an impact on the world. Having more money is just better.

That’s why being grateful is a key to happiness. You’ll never have enough of anything forever, balance isn’t stable, there’ll always something that you feel too much or too little in life. I agree, fully practicing gratitude is key. Every waking moment you should be grateful. The issue we have these days is thinking about what we don’t have or lack. It consumes us to the point where we end up not being grateful for life itself. That’s the whole point, I think

This is very true. My mother and I prove such. My mother is not a naturally grateful person. She tasked herself last year to find three things she was thankful for everyday. Meanwhile I barely even think about it yet if you ask I can list you twenty without much thought. I adore my mom but she is not a very happy woman. Yet she grew up poor while I grew up comfortably in the middle class. Thanks to her and her hard work. She normalized women being the bread winners of the family to me. Taken a class you wanted to because you’ve been out of school too long. Or a day class or tai chi class cause you’d rather buy bigger tv or newer playstation edition. I respect a person like that, ten thousand times more than the one on instagram with stick legs cause she takes diet pills and gets her sugar daddy to pay for her Uber and hot yoga class. making 150k a year isn’t enough for me to never work another day in my life, have a house, have a dog that i spoil, smoke weed, drink water, have a passport thicker than a bible, and wake up every day doing whatever i want to do (including buying anything i look at and think “neat!” without ever looking at my bank balance ever again).

You know Anna, watching you try and find some sort of external validation/fulfillment for the last few years in all sorts of science, studies, and expertise really begs the question of like "what if maybe that's not going to come from someone else and it's just gotta come from you?" Don't get me wrong, I'm a scientist by trade, but I get my validation and fulfillment from myself. ^_^

This goes deeper, what you should be looking for is freedom by understanding and enlightment. Enlightment and understanding are basically the same thing , altho enlightment is more experience induced spark of insight. Hapiness is temporary and sometimes not even beneficial to you. Excess of positive emotions can deplete and imbalance your natural body chemistry. You will often feel increased levels of depression after having good time. The better long term strategy is to become stoic.

Money brings us the feeling of safety: a home, food, water, access to healthcare... And then, when you dont feel the stress of trying to survive, you can focus on making yourself happy. So, some amount of money that makes you feel safe is definetely necessary for achieving happiness

Perfect (="complete") body/face, good job, money, true love ... are destinations. Random acts of kindness, social connexion, exercise, gratitude, sleep ... are journeys (they are never complete and they never end) People manage to seek validation through these as well! Imagine that! "Boring" is a perspective. That too can change over time.

Social media "likes" also don't bring happiness. I was just talking to my son about this today. This relentless pursuit of happiness, of putting yourself first and living for yourself rather than for others has only made people more miserable. There's no balance. It's sad.

Try having social connections when your friends wanna go out but you gotta save to be able to afford food. Try sleeping in an uncomfortable bed with no one there next to you. Money and love may not bring you happiness but those things unlock the opportunities for you to make it easier for yourself to do the things that will make you happy.

It's truly the little things that build up the healthy state of wellbeing that makes us happy. Happiness, afterall, is based on the level of happy hormones in our bodies. The highs (as well as the lows) of everything we chase is temporary and prone to driving humans into physical, emotional, and psychological exhaustion despite the regulations. Meanwhile, a healthy diet, good social and alone time routine, are all more likely to build up into long term balanced well being and a more stable sense of happiness and life satisfaction.

All of these "things we do for external validation" act as the pillars for our happiness. You can be happy without them, but the more time you spend like that, the more challenging it is to happy, especially when bad things happen. At the same time those "boring things" are what sustains happiness on a day to day basis once the THRILL of making good money, having a good job and partner fade to a base level of happiness, because we take it for granted.

Well I’ve been homeless, no job very little money. And now I have a new house, job and enough money to be comfortable, and not worry. I’m not anywhere being rich but I have enough and even more than enough. And I’m certainly happy, unlike when I didn’t have money. I did used to think the same that money doesn’t bring happiness and that it’s not important. That was until I had no money, then I realised how important money is and it does bring you happiness.

We live in a society where our quality of life depends solely on how much money we give humans. It's not that it buys happiness, it buys us peace. After all, if you don't have money, other humans will be sure to make your life as unhappy as physically possible until you give humans money. That's why we use money to escape society until we can be in a place where money does not matter.

Ill be honest that last line might be just you between us. The eastern monks and heck some christian monks knew that happiness comes from within and/or spiritual connection. Hundreds of years ago. The more we let go of the material world the better off we are in terms of happiness. Be content with the little things. No one is fighting science and if they are they are still exploring their inner selves or being contrarian to be cool. Which leads them back to what you found out at yale and i learned from books by monks. Gl on your hour journey it is worth it.
