Amon Amarth has some good shit.....it's kind of folky like the later Bathory stuff, so if you are Norse some of those songs like "The Berserker at Stamford bridge" and "Twilight of the thundergod" ect. are good but they are also the more popular ones. MARK MY FUCKING WORDS though in a decade the they will be considered classics by nerd and kvlt tuff guys alike. The first few albums anyway.....those are good metal, but that's just my opinion.

I think Amon amarth suffered the same fate as many just pumping out the same album over and over again. Don;t personally listen to anything after twilight. As far as Slipknot they were my generations gateway band. Myself born in 94 i had a lot of backtracking to do but got into the heavier stuff after high school.

I remember being a sophomore in highschool and the bass player i was jamming with was on the roadrunner street team so he got boxes of cassettes in the mail to give out for promo. ill never forget when he came to the lunch table with a box of soulfly slipknot disturbed and limp bizkit tapes. i remember hearing slipknot and liking the drums, but hating everything else. im not surprised at all by their trajectory though. i thought the masks were weird but im less bothered by that in my old age. i think slipknot vocals and lyrics are the main reason not a fan. im not a fan of his other projects either. something about how that guy sings just dont jive with this turkey. spotify numbers would indicate that i am in the minority.

Down with the sickness by disturbed, soulfly back to the primiative, slipknot surfacing and spit it out, limp Bizkit promos had the first 2 singles off their second album. By then I was already up of the big 4 so death metal was the next logical progression for me as a guitar player because I wasn't really trying to hear any metal with turn tables. I remember after playing my first show that every week a new kid at school would tell me he got turn tables and wanted to jam smh
