Your 💯 right we want the original concept art we don't want the extra ,now if they want too add that big snake vehicle for a Lil extra not no crazy prices I'm all in

I appreciate Mattel actually listening to the fans and pausing production to get it in line with what the fans expected, but I don't think what the fans expected would justify the prices that some of these crowdfunding projects demand. They want and expect something more like Castle Grayskull or Snake Mountain. Hell, they would be happy with something even simpler based on the number of Funko Batcaves I see repurposed into the Fright Zone.

Clearly mattel realized that the original design would not warrant the $300 price and so made it larger and added the stupid snake vehicle for nothing more than corporate greed . It should be no larger or cost more than the other origins playsets since it is he man nostalgia not snake men .

I voted for the Snake lair and the fright Zone. I was happy to hear the Snake lair win but was also disappointed by what we got. But to play Devils Advocate, what if Mattel gave us a Fright Zone/Slime Pit bundle?
@billybeigecustomsАй бұрын
@@learning2bcivil I think that would make sense to mah those together into one awesome playset!

The 3-D render looks exactly like something Mattel might have given us in the 80s. I believe THAT is all that's necessary to pass the nostalgia test. But if I'm wrong and it needs another toe in the 80s, they could incorporate the Rattle Trap vehicle, which was revealed to us in a 1986 issue of MOTU magazine

The $300 is a percentage of the production of the item plus the cost of the item. Tooling costs on these larger items is high. It can be hundreds of thousands to north of a million depending on piece count and complexity. The Fright Zone should be a retail only item. The only way a crowdfund would work for that would be a beefed up version or combining it with the Hordak lair and maybe even the Slime Pit (both detachable) to give us both something new and knock out the last of Horde playsets. The entire point of crowdfunding is to get larger playsets or vehicles made. It’s going to cost more and be much larger. I dont want some dinky Greyskull/Snake Mountain sized playset. Whether people have room or not is not Mattel’s problem.
@billybeigecustoms2 ай бұрын
@FFFFPPPP true and at this point it's looking like the majority of people are not liking the design AND burnt out on the larger playsets and won't back it. Which isn't Mattels problem. Unless they already spent money on tooling, and sdcc was a sample from their sub million dollar tooling... but that's their problem.

Its not our problem mattel got spanked by trying a bait and switch

It’s 100% Mattel’s problem if people don’t want big playsets and/or don’t have room to store them. People will not buy the product if it doesn’t meet their requirements. All companies need to use the Voice of the Customer (VOC) in their product design process to make sure that the product features that they include match the features that customers are willing to pay for. Otherwise, the mismatch can cause sales to be less than the company expects since the product doesn’t satisfy enough of the customer base.

@billybeigecustoms I doubt they have the actual tooling made. This was probably 3D printed and probably spent anywhere from 15k-25K for the actual playset not including labor and wasted months on R&D.
@billybeigecustoms2 ай бұрын
@domls1317 come on, let me have the worst case scenario 🤣 but yeah it's still a big waste.
@archlogan55732 ай бұрын
A crowd fund at a lower amount of product ordered like Snake Lair is going to have a higher price point than uou expect, even if it's based off of the superior concept art design.
@billybeigecustoms2 ай бұрын
@archlogan5573 of course but still a simpler design with less tooling will be cheaper. It'd still have to meet a minimum order quantity but it doesn't have to be $300+. If Ramen Toys has taught us anything, you can make a something with even more complex tooling for less.

Origins Eternia was WAY overpriced in my opinion. That being said, I voted for the Fright Zone but might buy the Snake Lair if it looks more like the artwork originally presented. Honestly, I think Mattel has gone overboard with Snake Men characters. I just want them to finish the vintage characters.
@barnacleburrito37282 ай бұрын
you're correct that they've gone overboard with snake men characters. But eternia cost what it cost due to 'Economies of scale.' Being a one-off run, it's worth more than anyone paid Mattel for it, so what's the problem?

My biggest problem is idiots on KZbin that can't spell the word "you". I overlook it most of the time because I realize they can't help being stupid. I usually give their comment a like, because I'm sure it makes them feel like they did something right for a change. People like that usually disappoint everyone around them because they're so ignorant. I try to give them something positive to look forward to.

Some people are now want fright zone. Are more stupid than those mattel employee who design the snake lair sdcc, wanting it for creation exclusive is BS it should have been sold on retail just like sm and cg
@barnacleburrito37282 ай бұрын
they can only put it at retail if sales would justify that kind of investment. Sadly that is unlikely. Also, it's not up to Mattel if the stores will order it. They think nobody likes MOTU origins because Mattel massively overshipped the Christmas 2022 wave with Jitsu & Sorceress. it helps to understand economies of scale. MC exists for small run productions
@wretchedthe6382 ай бұрын
@@barnacleburrito3728 well they are the ones actually screwing it due to allocations then in the end they will blame it on the fans not wanting it,like for instance look how massive the stocks on smyths germany do we got those on asia nothing , the last one we have is wave 13 in small numbers the wave 12 didnt arrived here, if you are a collector of this line you have to get them on ebay just to continue the line and thats not good at all, thats why on my region a lot have been quitting motu coz you cant get them in a reasonable price
