The announcement dropped Tuesday.... I contacted my Sweetwater rep within the hour and damn near fell out of my chair when Matt called a few days later and they had two arrive. 😳Made the hour and a half drive (each way) out there and now I'm sitting on the sofa playing it. WOW. Could not be happier ...Thank you Matt @Sweetwater and to Paul and Co... you are killing it with these new models! I own several Core PRS and have owned many others, but to have a guitar of this quality available to gig with at a fraction of the cost of the Core Hollowbodies? The all mahogany body is a great way to add the warmth that the hollowbody ii is missing. Makes it sound more like a core hollowbody, in my opinion.

Being all mahogany, plus the piezo, it'll compliment my 2021 Zach Myers SE (semi-hollow/ maple top) - it even has the same neck pattern so I should feel right at home. I looked at this because of the name of the finish. I have an all black German Wirehaired Pointer. I have to sweep my entire house every day or two to clean up his hair. Then I heard you play it. Now I’m torn between this guitar and the PRS SE “Paul’s Guitar”. I can’t afford both of the unfortunately so it’s decision time. Darn, I hate to choose. Thanks for the great demo.

That Finish is amazing. This guitar's very very interesting. Wish PRS kept finishes across generations rather than ditching previous ones as that would mean more finish options for the SE models. Wish they would've made an original McCarty SE rather than the 594 but I guess you can't win every time

I purchased the HollowBody ii Piezo in Black Gold Burst because it's the only one the headstock matches. Lots of Colors but please PRS match the headstock to the body color!

I recently picked up the SE Hollowbody II Piezo for £799, it sounds and looks amazing. It being heavily discounted, I had a strong feeling PRS were about to discontinue it and bring out a successor. I guess this is the successor! There's now no flame binding, no abalone inlay material for the birds, fretboard is no longer ebony (according to site specs) and I much prefer the flame Peacock Blue finish over this new finish, which personally looks quite drab. It will be interesting to see how this is priced, as they've removed some previous premium features that really made the Hollowbody II Piezo stand out in the SE range.

Current specs (as of 6/23) at the PRS site now indicate an ebony fretboard. That was an earlier typo.

The standard in dog hair, is $100 less than the Se in blue??? I guess all mahogany, vs flamed maple front and back makes a difference. All other specs are exactly the same. Same tuners, neck/ fingerboard material, pickups, controls, nut, neck radius etc.

@@timothyweesner6286 Nah, the binding and inlay materials are also different. Purely cosmetics, of course. Personally, I like either version. Also, this new model has the LT (Low Turns) version of the 58/15 ‘S’.

I'm excited about the all mahagony and have been waiting a long time for a black variant of the guitar because I do not like blue, but why is the standard in Europe 300€ more expensive than the SE while in the States the standard costs 100$ less? We pay 1699€ for the Dog Hair and 1399€ for the blue one. Also, it won't be available until the end of May. 😞

I wonder if there’s any way that PRS could incorporate the LR Baggs Anthem SL into an electric guitar like this. I owned a blue SE Piezo II and sold it because I wasn’t thrilled about the piezo tones even when running it through my multi effects pedal with eq and other additional adjustments.

So do I understand correctly that when you're using the blended output jack, the mag pickups are feeding thru the onboard preamp? And this is a line level (lo-Z) output?

Unlikely that the magnetic p'ups are fed through the preamp. More likely is the two signals are run in parallel to that output at instrument level.

No, the blended output jack sums the output of the mag pickups and the pre-amp'd piezo--depending on where the volume for each are. You can use mostly mag tone with a little piezo to add some zing to the mag tone. Likewise, you can dial up the piezo for an acoustic tone and then add one or both mag pickups (depending on switch position) to give your acoustic sound some midrange punch. Both outputs are high-Z (high impedance), designed to work fine with any guitar amp.

I have one of the se hollow body II piezo released about 18-24 months ago. Is this the same thing? What’s different that PRS needed to make a new video? I love the versatility of this guitar. Blended or into 2 amps - one for the acoustic side and one for the HBs - this is one great guitar. By the way, what amp (PRS HDRX I assume and settings got that tone?

I have one as well and it looks to me the Standard simply lacks the ‘trim’ of our guitars; no maple binding; the birds are likely a different material; things like that; curious to see where these will retail

There _is_ a small block beneath the bridge area for structural stability-but it's still essentially considered a hollowbody. Adding a full block like an ES-335 would turn it into a semi-hollow with an entirely different sound and feel. I own a Memphis ES-335 as well as a PRS Core Special Semi-Hollow and neither sounds or _feels_ anything like this featured model... which, er... I already also own. It is indeed a tremendous instrument. (Yeah, I have too many guitars. lol). Great demo, Bryan!

Historically, the "II" refers to a maple top and back for PRS hollowbody. With an all-mahogany guitar, the "II" wouldn't apply. I have a core HB II. I'd love one of these!

@@nunezkant I can't imagine you won't be thrilled with either the maple or mahogany versions. I think the mahogany is a little more mid-range focused tonally with the maple being a little "brighter" sounding.

@@nunezkant I'm not up on the current prices but that would make sense. I think they're both laminate/veneer guitars (the Core model being all sold woods) but I'm not 100% sure about that. I'm not actively involved in music anymore and I haven't kept up with much the past few years. My last purchase was a Silver Sky when they came out in 2017 or so, so I'm lagging behind on all the specs and details.
