you might do well with getting 3 or 4 sand sifting starfish for the seahorses. they're less invasive than the shrimp and of course slower, and they'll eat what does fall into the sandbed keeping it even more clear, and they're good, in my experience, eating the brown slime algaes that appear
@dhammaboy12032 жыл бұрын

Yes or sand sifting gobies . Great tank Joey
@NotKumiYeou2 жыл бұрын
@Dianoia Noesis not typically, but with seahorses being so passive they can be considered too "aggressive" in some cases like shown here. sand sifting stars are much slower and less aggressive and while they have eyes they can't see well and won't specifically target an area. turbo snails will stick to rockwork and glass and not touch the open sand bed much, and in my experience will absolutely eat the caulerpa and other macro algae that's trying to be grown here
@NinjaSushi22 жыл бұрын
I'd say nassarius snails or serpent stars are a good idea too. Perhaps a tiger conch because they're cool. 😎 Gotta have cool points.

Great video as usual. The more you build tanks that you love rather than what the "internet" wants the better the videos are. I kept mandarinfish/ dragonets with a few different species of seahorses for years. Their diet is the same as seahorses so food was not a problem and "mine" were slow moving and none aggressive, but like you said maybe it worked for me.

Having been absent for a while but after watching the seahorse tank I’m happy I came in to watch. Maybe add some pipefish with the seahorses to get some movement . Since you have all that yummy stuff for cocopods, misys, tiger pods you can see your tank with them and could be a self sustaining tank, adding all those live foods in my tank when I had my seahorse tank made the huge difference. Everything was breeding and keeping my seahorses alive for well over 6 years

Just a quick suggestion for your Seahorse tank. To help with the left over proteins that are uneaten, I would highly recommend a HOB protein skimmer. I only do marine fish setups, and I run a protein skimmer on every tank I have. Will help you tremendously with possible ammonia spikes.

Conches are a good clean up crew for ur sand. Same goes with hermit crabs. Also, some other types of marcoalgea can help with water quality. Racemosa is really good for high nitrates. But do keep in mind that racemosa can to sexual. Which a part of the algea will turn white then release spots in the tank. This is harmless. Just clouds up the water for a bit.
@jetjazz052 жыл бұрын
Nerites are salt or freshwater, I know in my freshwater tank they keep the glass spotless. Super inert little critters, I've kept them with predatory fish that don't play with others as well as tanks with crystal shrimp which in my experience have always been easily spooked. I'd often times catch a crystal red picking at the backs of the nerites lol.
@bjhubbard39222 жыл бұрын

@ja-canadian54512 жыл бұрын
Since the shrimp learned after a few days where the food is, and since you now have a shrimp tank. Could you cycle the shrimp in and out so that the shrimp are only in the Seahorse tank for a few days before returning to the main shrimp tank, and replace them with other shrimp from the shrimp tank stock? A lot of work maybe, but....
