"Next train's gone", wonderful film, just about my all-time favourite. Good detective work.

Great Video, I used to live close by and often played on the concreate station platform. I believe the platform is still there despite the video as i can remember it being filled in and over with surplus soil so its underneth there now. My best friend (in chidhood) lived at the staionmasters house and I often went in the pump house looking back a little dangerous with the deep well inside. brings back some memories

I went to school,Lord Wandsworth College, in the 1960s and one of my classmates called Hooper lived on the farm in Cliddesden, and he told me that the cow that poked his head through the carriage window was provided by his dad, Mr Hooper, from the farm!

When I went here years ago I drove through Cliddesden and just before the bend in the road is where the line crossed the road. To the right of that was a long hump of ground with the top of the platform ramp just showing where the earth had fallen. There were trees either growing through the platform or just behind. In front of the "hump" the ground had a long depression where of course the trackbed was.

Fascinating video vinny. I wonder though, if you have seen an ordnance survey map of the area as it was back then. I have a copy of one on my PC dated 1932 which clearly shows the location of the station and surrounding buildings. One interesting point I found on this map is that the road went UNDER the line rather than there being a level crossing. If you want me to email this map to you, please let me know.

It looks like it goes under but it doesn't, its just to show it narrows

Well researched, well filmed and edited in both videos. Your Wasting Your Time but not on this occasion well done. I found this intriguing, my favourite Will Hay film thank you.

PS. If you dig a bit you`ll find the platform is still there. I once took a photo of the ramp by the road where some of the soil had dropped off revealing the brick and concrete.

I saw the platform edges still in situ about maybe 15 or so years ago level with the surrounding ground but as clear as anything. From what would have been the level crossing in the film. Annoyed I didn't have a camera with me.

Fascinating ,,, I love railway history,,, I have a video "A railway walk from Rowsley To Haddon Tunnel that you may fine interesting ,,,, further up the line one of my best finds was the outside tin toilet of the signal box hidden away in the bushes, later I found photos of the line and just on the edge of one of them was the toilet,,,, its a true like to the past,,,, mind the line was easy to find and obvious unlike the one above,,,, many thanks I found it most interesting ,,, i will check out your other videos for some more gems ,,,, many thanks Alan

I had a boss in the 1980s, a railway buff. He told me that an old regular - we both worked in a Texaco filling station - 'shewed the chickens across' during the film. The fat boy, Graham Moffit(?) actually opened the premises in Dunleys Hill, Odiham, when it was a cinema. Today the showroom, as it latterly became, is no more...
