As well as being one of Britain's most popular stage and screen comedians, Will Hay was an avid astronomer and made history in 1933 when he discovered a spot on Saturn.
This film was first shown at the Will Hay Appreciation Society's event 'Will Hay Day the ThIIIrd', on 5th November 2016 at The Electric Cinema, Birmingham. The event raised over £2300 for MNDA.

As a small boy back in the mid 70s I would watch all his films on BBC2 in the school holidays. I remember I would be hardly able to breath through laughing so much and now I find out he was multi talented. What a true legend.

My father absolutely loved him, we'd watch the films together, same time as you, though I was a young teenager and I too would be laughing so hard I couldn’t breathe! How odd, when you think about it, for a teenage girl whose other interests were T.Rex and the opposite sex! 😂😂😂

The "Radio Parade of 1935" was a masterpiece, featuring a colour finale, photographed in Dufaycolour by Freize-Green, a pioneer of colour filming. I have it on VHS tape from a BBC TV broadcast but also on DVD in a restored copy. It's a masterpiece and a satire on the BBC's reluctance to follow technology at the time. Claude Dampier as the piano tuner is a gem.

I loved the bumbling Will Hay in Oh Mister Porter, I didn't know anything about his life, if you think about it, acting is just a job but a good actor convinces you that what you see is what they are. I found this video very interesting. Oh Mister Porter what a clever man you really are.

Good account. His last residence in North West London (Hendon) was recently pulled down and a hideous block of flats put up in its place - a shame really - maybe it could have been turned into a museum in memory of him... The original drive way ( in and out) can still be made out however and his car must have driven in and out of this many times when he was living there (1935 to 1949)...

In many of his films Will Hay wore a special wig to make him appear balding as that look suited many of the characters he played much better. In real life however he had a full head of hair.
