You see photos of troops wearing just the tops or bottoms depending on the work. I think this is what he's wearing. The soviets would have just attacked Germany if they didn’t do operation Barbarossa so it would’ve been a two front war anyway. It was Germany that declared war on America before America themselves so that could’ve been a mistake. Given Germany’s neighbors and the power they have I can’t really say they could have won the war. In fact I think the axis actually did a good job for the situation they were on. I would actually say the biggest mistake was the war atrocities and crimes. Both from a political and moral standpoint. Maybe if Hitler just came to power with the goal of restoring the german monarchy or something like that and justified doing so by claiming the treaty of Versailles was unfair, the could’ve built up the navy and manufacturing power.

My take on it's location would be this: 47.447674, 27.560809 It lies where the prut river has a leftward bend towards upstream which matches the bend on the picture at 5:24 (further refered to as picture). There is a hill on the eastern bank with 47.454984, 27.577402 coords (further refered to as Hill 1) that posibly fits the look of the right of the two hills on the picture. Futher north, at 47.463492, 27.581954, there is another hill (further refered to as Hill 2) that descends towards Hill 1 in a manner that leaves a gap between the two hills, which posibly matches the gap between the hills on the picture. The panzer would as such be on the eastern bank, downstream enough of Hill 1 and Hill 2 to allow them to be seen as they are on the picture. Now, the Prut may have changed its flow over the last 80 years so that has to be taken into consideration as well. To confirm or reject this, it would be best if the entire wider area (1-2 km upstream and a bit downstream) are checked, preferably in person. It is also possible that the river on the picture isn't even the Prut river, but another one, like the Cheremosh river in Ukraine (48.226105, 25.110363) which later flows into the Prut.

One thing supporting the claim that the other photos are the same tank is the riverbank on the other photos, you can see a lack of foliage up to a certain height which roughly lines up with the top of the hull. Okay here me out. i think i found it on google maps. In the image, you can clearly see the reflection of tree across the water. So that means there are trees on one side and empty ground on the other. That also means it is a river short in width. The panzer is also in the water by itself with the turret sticking out. I did looking on google maps, and found a location that fits all these criterea perfectly 46°25'14.3"N 28°14'59.8"E on google maps. Along with the fact that the thing in the water fits the Panzer IV dimensions using google maps measure distance. There is also 48°07'37.0"N 27°02'22.4"E which is equally as plausible. It has a steep hill next to it, with trees on the other side. Crossing into moldova, not out. Looks liek a barrel shape on it and just looks good.

While both locations seem to have an item in the water, based upon the photos it could be assumed the take was recovered and would no longer be in the river. However, if it were still to be in the river, I'd believe it would be on the eastern bank, making the second location much more promising. Additionally, there appear to be high hills on either side of the river, forming that overlap which can be seen in the background as the river curves past the tank and to the left.

Okay so I did some research on my own.. So, to begin with that soldier might not actually be German, it could be a Soviet Soldier, because of the hat that the soldier is wearing, the side hat is something both the Germans and the Soviets wore, however most German soldiers in field usually wore a helmet, which tells us this is more likely a Soviet soldier. This can be told by the looks of the uniform as well, it does not look very German at all in my opinion. The jacket also could be a usual Soviet Telogreika, however it does not look padded at all, which tells us this could be some kind of a summer variant. The pants looks like some sort of pants from a winter uniform as you said, however we should have in mind that during the German invasion of the Soviet union they had problems with transporting winter uniforms to their soldiers, So the Germans often had to reside on Soviet winter uniforms. Now I think the soldier question is very tricky, the soldier could be both German or Soviet, and if it is a Soviet soldier it could probably be a Partisan, that would explain why he is carrying a German rifle, or it could be a soviet soldier carrying Trophy gun. So. If it is a German soldier the image can have been taken in Romania or in that area. And if it would be a Soviet soldier the image could have been taken in Estonia or in the Baltic since a sunken T34 tank was found in the area. The tank could have been sunken when they tried to carry it over a river or lake using ice or some sort of bridge that broke down, that would explain the piece of material laying behind the tank. I don't know if that would give some more to the question but it's something at least!

I do live in romania but Prut river is a bit far way plus if it's on the Prut it might be a chance that the tank is on the ukrainian side since the river is a national border between romania and ukraine

Hey! I live near the Prut river in Romania but there is a problem, my great grandfather was a romanian soldier and he said after the war the Prut flooded the nearby places, so i think the Panzer 4 is underwater deep in the countryside of Romania near the Prut river.

It could be in Republic of Moldova, river Nistru. Im from there , specifically from Soroca City, and i remember my grandpa told me that a good amount of german weaponry (including tanks and other vehicles ) where found in ‘50 in Soroca area. Hope this would help.
