4:00 Re position of entrance hatch, inclusion of the front hull hatch has to be compared to what exactly? The A7 tank of 1938 had a hatch on the front hull, so both V/A and ROF were producing designs throughout the interwar period with front hatches, many other designs had front hatches -prime example FT R-35 H-39, M3 and Ram had a front entrance hatch for the driver, (oh you thought it was a big @rsed vision slit did you? As to any position for escape and egress, only in the 1980s with the design of the Merkeva did anyone really consider crew evac. All other tanks, egress was by hatches often vulnerable to enemy fire, most hatches open from above, and even in the late 1930s the various infantry boards regarded over the top of the body from M2 style Half tracks an unacceptable vulnerability, hence M3, M5, SdKfz 250 and 251 all had rear exits, so why not tanks? because of size and position of motor. So egress from hull roof hatches or turret roof hatches especially exposes crews to small arms and mortar fire, similarly side doors in the Churchill -soon removed from Ram tanks and abandoned on Shermans before production were very vulnerable. German A/T tended to engage Churchills from the side, The only relatively safe emergency escape from a tank was via the hull floor escape and that is qualified by do you want to be crawling underneath a tank spewing burning gasoline?

Funny thing is that William Sherman said the famous words "War is hell". Making it a bit ironic that the M4 a machine designed to fight in a war is named after him.

Stopgap designs exist in a sort of 'liminal space' in regards to what can and cannot, or better yet, _should_ or _should not_ be, considered "cursed" by design. Something engineered fully around spare components and existing technologies which 'simply work' knowing full well what it's limitations are or may be is merely a hack-job jerry-rigged contraption. Not something boasted as new or revolutionary which turns out to be little more use than a tin can, is by definition, cursed. These kinds of videos which cover vehicles like this even in a series better suited to glorious fails of inventions are still appreciated though, as it certainly highlights the comparisons of the equality between an expensive tin can, or a cheap, jerry-rigged glorified 'zip gun', and that how zip guns can often be a wiser choice than a tin can when you know that tin can is prone to just springing a leak each time you try to fill it.. Eventually this type of history will be all but forgotten, relegated to mere footnotes in history books, and covered in the same depth that people cover the history of designs such as bell-mold cast-bronze cannons; brushed right over.

The Jagdpanzer E-100 is a half-fictional tank. It was planned to make a self-propelled gun based on the E-100, but the project was not developed. The documents also mention that it was planned to install a 17 cm gun. Obviously, such a large weapon could only be placed in the rear position of the wheelhouse, otherwise there would be an overload. So the Jagdpanzer E-100 is a historical fiction. Yes, although its entire design is taken from my head, it is based on real concepts.

If you want to see the recently restored surviving prototype 1 of the only two vehicles built for testing then Visit Mr Hewes YT channel. (The restorer) Great channel. It also featured at Bovington museums Tank fest in 2024. The gun was actually a British naval gun converted for use in a tank but continuously broke the breach mountings during testing.

Used to play AHG Panzerblitz. Hummel and Wespe were a constant presence, great to have for support. Nashorn, however, only showed up in a few scenarios. Properly screened with infantry and armor, they absolutely changed the game. Any open movement (especially on the road) in their LOS was just out of the question, so opponents had to completely change their approach. The definition of oppressive.

Perhaps the hulls should have been lightened, if possible, and all of them used as recovery vehicles or special purpose vehicles. The Germans seemed to have constant shortage of such vehicles.
