Here’s a hack: How do you help Americans to eat less meat? If you don’t care about the animals and/or the environment, perhaps people’s health is a bit more important? One option would be to quit the vast promotion on meat dishes and shift focus to easy and delicious vegetarian options? Also, the sizes on food portions in the U.S. are insane. Are you aware of that plus 40% of all adults over the age of 20 in the U.S. - about 100 million people - are obese? So back to the hack: How do you help people to NOT become obese, i.e. a victim of severe chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and CANCER?

@White9 once you are of age to order and pay for your lunch or dinner you make your own choices. No one is holding a gun to your head and telling you that you must order what you do. By telling someone of a hack and you order this way you get less bread which is less carbs. In a way this is more healthy for you IF you choice yo eat out. The UK is right behind the US in obese adults. You must take your health in your own hands and decide what you are going to do. I was super morbid obese a long time in my life. I took my health in my own hands and lost 207 pounds so far. Do I eat out yes I do from time to time and most sandwiches I make 2 to 3 meals out of it, but this is what I do for myself and no one else.

I work At Arby’s and I can confirm this is true. They got a button that’s labeled other sandwiches and has sandwich is not listed on the menu you can ask for.

I LOVE Arby's. McD gives me an attitude every time I ask for the SIMPLEST customization. My Arby's is like "bring it on". I always do something unique and they NEVER complain. Now that I am keto it is my favorite fast food place to eat. I did not know about the Meat Mt...gonna do that soon

Every now and then, I can get them to make the old swiss king. They were around in the late 70s. Onion roll, turkey, shredded lettuce, tomato, horsey, and swiss. Wonderful sandwich

I remember going into an Arby's in Minneapolis back in the early 70's, when they were doing it right. Behind the counter there were huge cuts of beef hanging from meat hooks, and the server worked at a classic steam table carving off thick delicious slices as the sandwiches were ordered. Just a few years later I went into an Arby's in Chicago, and when I got my "Roast Beef" sandwich, was surprised that the meat was paper thin. and didn't look or taste anything like beef. The meat was so white, I honestly thought that the server had given me chicken or pork by mistake.

@@bensebaugh6017 yeah, up until the canadians bought them in the early eighties, arby's was a whole different beast. i'd admit to liking a lot of their newer sandwiches over the years. never would i recommend going there for the roast beef, and the turkey is down right terrible. to mix things up, i'll go down for a french dip, or italian... side note, is it possible to get an italian dip? i'm talking about one of the loaded italians with a side of au jou. also, real big fan of the greek gyros. best bang for your buck you'll get there, while being as good as any greek bodegas you'll find, at least in my part of the u.s.

The meat is made from pressed together beef parts and a starch binder. It's really no different from bologna or other types of coldcuts. I agree it's not the real thing anymore though.

I swear to God that when I got it home I threw the entire thing in the trash after just one bite; it was that bad. And I was hungry! The kicker is I had to toss the fries too, because I absolutely hate "seasoned" curly fries. Don't know what I was thinking, saying "Yes" when the guy asked if I'd like fries with the order. Must be like a reflex answer, or something.

One thing that I desire every time I think about sea food is their Fish sandwich. I just wish they would have extra tartar sauce. I'm one of those who like to eat my fries with it as well. I wish they had vinegar with it as well. But that's thanks to being raised in Canada and spending time in the UK in the 90's.

I usually get what basically use to be called the Swiss King but substituting lettuce and mayo for the slaw. It would make life so much easier if they’d just put it back on the menu. They use to have some really good subs back in the early 80’s too.

The Arby's that we go to in Chamblee, Georgia is managed by Quentin who runs a tight ship. No complaints from our family. His place is very popular because he and his crew do a great job! Our favorite to order is their Lamb Gyro listed on the menu as "Greek Gyro", especially when it is 2 for $6. What a terrific deal!

They use to have really good subs back in the early 80's. If I remember correctly, they had a club sub, ham and cheese, roast beef and an Italian one. They were much better then the ones they had in the recent past. But yes, they difinitely need to bring back subs.

The one they have in Downtown Spokane is a very tight run ship, they're very close to a High School and businesses on that street. The last time I was there, through no fault of my own, I wound up going there at noon and it was full of people.. This was before the shut down. Old people only eat roast beef? I have been liking roast beef since I was a kid. The Beef and cheddar is a nice break from the basic fast food burgers, simple yet delicious with curly fries. Also, the fish sandwich is not the best fish on the market but delicious. Also the beef euro. Those are all I need and are all very satisfying to the stomach!!!

My favorite was the old roast beef sub they served back in the 80's and 90's. It was actually big enough for 2 people and the best sandwich they ever had. I had it a couple times a month at least. Today I stop at Arby's maybe twice a year. ☹️

You can still order it. It would be cheaper to have them give you a classic roast beef and add cheddar sauce to it (at least where I work). But if you want to go the long route, just ask for a beef n cheddar and substitute the onion roll for a sesame seed bun (should be no extra cost to sub those breads)

So, not really "secret menu" items as much as you're just annoying the employees by asking for items to be switched or substituted on your sandwich. You can do that pretty much anywhere.

No, this is what a "secret menu" is. It's not just good ideas for substitutions (which aren't that annoying, by the way). "Secret menu" items are already well-known, well-established items that aren't on the advertised menu. Sometimes the employees aren't aware of them but most of the time they are. That's why you can go into an Arby's an order a "meat mountain" and they know exactly what you're talking about, as if it's a regular menu item, but you can only order it if you know about it, and they don't advertise it. That's why people think it's so cool. A lot of restaurants have items like this. It's not a substitution, just something you can order that isn't on the menu. I think you just misunderstand what a "secret menu" is.
