Vulnerability is definitely her secret weapon, if the blowup of her song "Denial is a River" was any indication. I'm proud that she pushed through and became who she always wanted to be.

Vulnerability is definitely the key. Doja said the exact same thing.. "Vulnerability earned me a lot of bacon" People notice authenticity and rawness, and the LOVE IT. Especially in a world where everything is so curated to perfectly fit whatever aesthetic is current in the moment. That is what it really means to be different. Be honest, and listen to yourself.

90% of the time your honesty and vulnerability will be your superpower in the music business. Most people are scared to be vulnerable and share their insecurities so when you see somebody who fearlessly dives into those topics, it's refreshing and cathartic, because a lot of us wish me had the same strength to put ourselves out there like that. It earns respect.

Doechii is this generations lauryn hill, her debut lp resonates with this generation in a way that miseducation did in its time. As a fan of hip hop since the 90’s I’m here for it
@FREDSTER30514 күн бұрын
FALSE. You’re wrong, Please stop your nonsense. You cannot be a “fan” of hip hop and write that sentence LOL. FOH. Put some respect on Lauryn Hill. Such a lazy and ignorant statement/opinion. Lauryn hill was in her own lanes. Doechii has a versatility so wide that Lauryn hill didn’t venture in. All this to say that lyrically, Doechii’s catalog LYRICALLY does not compare to Lauryn Hill. In venturing into different sounds Doechii jeapordizes and changes the quality of her message and lyrics if we keep it real. Lauryn Hill is a LEGEND. Always had a clear and consistent message with her songs. Doechii atm is iconic. She makes her own music, but bites off of other artists HEAVY too on some songs. It could be for fun, it could be a marketing move. Biting off of Doja cat, Kendrick, Nicki, Azalea, Tierra Whack, Rico Nasty, etc etc etc. This is NOT to say that Doechii is not talented. (insert any lyrical beast with a consistent positive and eye opening message) would be more closer and consistent to that of Lauryn Hill in comparison to Doechii. I love both their music! But I gotta call out the B S when I see it. With such a versatility in sounds, messages, etc you could compare her to Doja Cat or Tierra Whack of this generation, those kinds of musical beasts. More so Doja Cat. But if making a statement closer to what you made. Otherwise they are all great artists in their own right.
@FREDSTER30513 күн бұрын
@@Visions_in_Toyko lol I think you modified your post and now made a comparison of resonation between 2 artist at 2 different times. To that, I also disagree. Had that been the case, Doecii would have been popping off insanely. She is underrated still, deserves more flowers for all that she brings to the table. But it is not enough to call her this generation’s Lauryn Hill which you said in your original statement and now back peddled. Nicki Minaj being even more of a major international sensation still does not compare to Lauryn Hill and one can also argue vice versa. But Nicki to date has not put out an entire body of work that compared to the quality of Lauryn Hill. If we are talking rap, hip hop, bars, message, impact, etc.

@@Visions_in_Toyko sorry if I’m going ham, also for coming off strong at first, no personal disrespect to you. This is all a debate/convo. @FREDSTER30513 күн бұрын
@@Visions_in_Toyko Kind of how Netflix or Disney ruins epic originals with mediocre and low quality remakes and you know it’s garbage in comparison but then you have the new viewers saying it was incredible and seeing no flaws in it. So that encourages low level pumping of content. Not holding the creators to a higher standard and not getting better results.
