I’m a scratch golfer/ give lessons to young amateurs and Highschoolers and I can say my number one advice is never decelerate. Your backswing determines your power and so many people decelerate when they swing and it always messes them up

Do you mean let the club swing forward naturally and not give any resistance or hold back?
@MrSurferdude89

Like a pendulum. Your backswing should be equal to your forward swing.
@manley9308
@manley9308 2 жыл бұрын
@@johnmcgahern3946 this is a late reply…. BUT… if you’re using the shoulders for the primary muscle to drive the putter’s stroke chip shot, your club speed shouldn’t slow down after contact compared to your backswing speed. When golfers rely on their wrists, it’s much easier to mess this up because the wrists can break open easier with bad contact with the club and ground.

Prior to lockdown I was going to the range maybe once a week to practice some of the tips and tricks I’ve seen on your channel. Since lockdown I’ve managed to play 18 rounds. I’ve had quite a rapid journey of improvement and a lot of that has been helped the the content on your channel and just wanted to extend my thanks for all that you do. Ive gone from shooting just in the 100s to shooting on average around 90. I’ve also shot +10 twice and I’m now completely hooked with the game. Keep up the great work. Rick, I have been using this putting chip technique for years, good advice! Also, I read about & use a chipping method that utilizes my 6i, 8i, & PW. For a level green, 6 iron 1/4 fly distance & then 3/4 run. For the 8 iron, 1/3 fly distance & then 2/3 run. For the PW, 1/2 fly distance & 1/2 run. If the green is sloping away from you, naturally go down a club, i.e. 7i for 6i, 9i for 8i, GW for PW. If the green is going uphill, then reverse the clubs, i.e. 5i for 6i, 7i for 8i, 9i for PW.

Excellent tip Rick, has helped me no end around the greens. Before I used to hit too much ground trying to get club under the ball. Now I'm chipping a lot closer to the pin I don't even have to take the putter out of the bag👍

I've played bump and roll with my 5 iron for years in this situation using this same pendulum type swing. It works! I will try it now using the toe of a wedge. Great video Rick

In the past I would automatically go for my 56 or 60 degree. Looked great when it worked. But there were occasions when I duff or thin. This "toe down" technique works great. Very easy to implement and get right every time. A real stroke saver.

That actually helped me keep my confidence today and allowed me to get the ball on the green 9 out of 10 times. Next stop, getting the distances right with the different clubs. Brilliant tip this one. Thank you.

Excellent tip. I’ve been using this for years. I think it was called a ‘chip putt’ back in the day. You can use any iron or wedge for this but by raising the handle the face of the club will point right (for right handers). So you will need to close the club face slightly before taking your grip.The more lofted the club, the more you need to close the club face in order to hit it straight. It’s really reliable, once you get the hang of it and great from tangly green side lies as the club is much less likely to get stuck in the grass.

I recently got into golf over quarantine (it’s one of the only things that you can play) I’ve been playing twice a week for 4 weeks now. The hardest thing I’ve understood about getting into golf is affordability. Clubs and Playing price. And I think that’s what wrong with golf is that is expensive to get started. And your videos have helped. I’m a baseball player so it’s a hard adjustment. I’ve been watching every single one of your videos on tips and tricks and today I played a 18 hole, and hit a 22 over. Thank you for all the tips it really helps.

Rick, first time golfer and love the videos! I’m struggling with chipping and these videos have helped already a lot. I am curious though what to do when chipping on an uneven surface around the green like on a slope up and or down? Also, what about a 50 yard chip shot as in what club to use and how much or a back swing? Finally, for all chip shots, where should the weight be? Thanks again for all your awesome videos!!

I've always had an issue with chipping, either hit it too hard and overshoot the green , or not hard enough and fall way short. I tried your technique on Saturday. Very first time I tried it, nice straight shot about 30 yards outs and hit the pin. I thank you for this video!! It is definitely going to improve my game!
