THE SECRET GARDEN starring Colin Firth, Julie Walters and Dixie Egerickx is a new take on the beloved classic novel of the same name written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Set in England during a new time period in 1947, the film follows a young orphan girl who, after being sent to live with her uncle, discovers a magical garden on the grounds of his estate. Marc Munden is directing the script, which was adapted for the screen by Jack Thorne. David Heyman (Harry Potter franchise, Paddington 1,2) and Rosie Alison (Paddington 1 ,2) are producing and Jane Robertson (The Danish Girl, Bridget Jones’s Baby) is co-producing. StudioCanal’s Ron Halpern, Didier Lupfer, and Dan MacRae are executive producers. STXfilms will distribute THE SECRET GARDEN in the U.S. and Canada.

I vividly remember the version directed by Alfonso Cuaron in the 90s, and I read the book when I was in school. If you're gonna do this one, the Garden itself better be a full on character WITH its own character. Looks wonderful and whimsical so far, and really brought back my feelings of being 12 or 13 and being uplifted upon seeing the finished garden. I think its great they're remaking this classic again! Hope that current generations enjoy it as much as I did.

Agnieszka Holland directed the 1993 version. Cuaron did direct A Little Princess though.

Love this film & really enjoyed this updated version. Colin Firth embodied this role completely - a fantastic opportunity to show us a more rounded character & it was explained well why he is how he is. 😊 Such a great retelling of the story whether you're completely new or have read/watched the plot beforehand. RIP Grandma ❤
