The names you said you didn't recognize at the Vista Theatre are the Stars from the original "Dark Shadows" TV show (1966-1971). We were here a couple of times during the Dark Shadows Festivals, which have been going on almost every year since 1983. Some famous Dark Shadows stars are Jonathan Frid (Barnabas), Lara Parker (Angelique), Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie), Dennis Patrick, (also famous character actor) John Karlen (also from Cagney & Lacy), David Selby (also from Falcon Crest). There were 2 original Dark Shadows movies, shot in Lyndhurst, NY, from 1970 & 1971. Both have been shown here. Also I believe the Johnny Depp version of D/S, which to me, was nothing like the original. Just a little history on the Shadows stuff. I love your vlogs, especially the cemetery tour ones. I have been to Westwood cemetery & the Forest Lawn that Lucy used to be buried in. Keep up the good work! Love your doggie too.

When I lived in the L.A. I would go to the Vista in the early through late 1980s at least twice a month. It was my favorite indie theater. Even though it looked worn down it was clean. This vlog brings back fond memories.

Kenneth Anger was an occultist film maker before Bobby Beausoleil was a killer (he was in at least one of his films). San Fransisco is also the home of the Westerfeld house, famous for tenants like Anton Levay, Anger, and Beausoleil. It was featured on a Ghost Adventures episode that also included an interview with a 90+ year old Anger. Among the handprints in front of the Vista, I noticed Ray Harryhausen. He was the creator of stop motion animation, shown in movies like “Jason and the Argonauts” (cool skeleton battle), Clash of the Titans (1981), and more. Great vlog!❤

Honor Blackman = British actress known for her role as Hera in Jason and the Argonauts (1963) and Pussy Galore in the Bond movie, Goldfinger. She's still living -in her early 90s now.

Bud Cort, was in a classic little-known film called:"Harold & Maude" with Ruth Gordon, if you don't know this 'dark film', I'd recommend it. Theme song by Cat Stevens. I think they call this type of film a "black-comedy" in Vancouver we had a similar old movie theatre not un-like the Vista, called the Hollywood where you could watch 2wo films for the price of 1ne, but alas that theatre is no longer open (the building still remains)

That California Donuts near Hollywood and Wilton had THE best Glazed Honey wheat donuts with blueberry bits in them in the late 70's, early 80's. The last time I went there about 5 years ago they never even heard of them. Of course most cities have changed in the last 40-50 years but, it is a shame that so much has changed in Hollywood. Like Bob Hope used to sing, Thanks for the memories..

Honor Blackman was one of the Bond girls I believe. She just passed away within the last 2 - 3 months. The last thing I saw her in was Hallmark live action movie of Jack and the Beanstalk" with Vanessa Redgrave about 15 years ago. I think she was in her 90's when she died. Blessings - Judith

I visited with Forrest Ackerman at his Glendower home several years before his death..interesting guy. Another interesting fact is that the Vista Theater sets on the same corner where DW Griffith had built his enormous set for 1916's "Intolerance"

I liked the Muni light rail and bus system. The bus system is particularly great. The drivers didn't even check my ticket I just held it up as I got on, they shrugged, and put the bus in "Drive." The bus went to a lot of places, too. The bus system here in Indy is awful.

If you are a big “eyeball” fan, my husband gets a smallish size pumpkin every Halloween with a long stem on it and he has a very fine paint machine that does the most UNBELIEVABLE eyeballs on pumpkins with the stem all “bloody” and they look like they were ripped out of someone’s head. He does them for us & the grandkids. People go NUTS over them!!!! 🎃👁 I’ll try & send you one unless we are already moved to Cali., then I can deliver it to you! My son lives in LA.
