What if Anakin refused to spy on Palpatine AND left the Jedi Order? This request, on the heels of being denied made a Master, is the final straw. He leaves the Order, telling Padme everything, and they head off to Naboo, where Anakin doesn't leave her side until the twins are born. OR, what if Obi-Wan told the Council to grow a pair and wouldn't ask Anakin in private?

From the sounds of it, they seemed stupid. If they started suspecting Palpatine was the mastermind of everything, a logical thought would mean he was already a few steps ahead. That’s one of the only things I like about The Last Jedi is when Luke calls out the entire Jedi order as a failure.

Obi-Wan was right. It was foolish for the council to alert Anakin of their mistrust of Palpatine, and it was so needless towards their goal. They already knew what Palpatine was doing: taking over the galaxy. Surely, they knew that Palpatine wasn't going to willingly give up his power, upon the end of the war. All they didn't know was that he was the Sith Lord, which Anakin would have alerted the council about without being asked.

This could make a good 'what if Obi Wan wasn't a suck up @sshole to the council?' If only Obi Wan listened to Qui Gon's teachings and followed the will of the force, instead of the will of the council, like a good little corporate sheep. Things could have been very different, then. He knew it was wrong to do, he knew this was a bad idea to force this on Anakin, yet he blindly followed that path, anyway. He's just as much to blame in all this, as the council is. Yes, in the end Anakin made the ultimate decision, but they did nothing to help him the entire time.

Just goes to show the jedi can't be trusted they were all suspicious of palpatine being involved with the sith yet they ask someone who never had a father figure to spy on the only father figure anakin knew since he was 9 years old 🤔

Obi-Wan was a puppet of the council just as much as Anakin was a puppet of Palpatine. Only the council was more deceptive.

That's actually a great scene and it adds a lot to the Council not merely reacting to the unfolding of Sidious' plan, but actually trying to counter them. It shows the Jedi were not a group of ignorant fools. They had a plan, a good one going and you also have to remember that it is easy to smart retroactively. But at the time, from all the information they had, the absolute worse case scenario was Anakin fucking up the mission he was sent on (spying on Palpatine). They didn't know Palpatine was Sidious, all their suspicion was that he might be connected to him. They didn't know about Order 66, it was unfathomable that 10.000 Jedi in the galaxy could die within a matter of mere seconds. The Sith had been planning this for a millenia, the Jedi had a good decade to counter. All in all they did pretty good at unfolding the mystery, they were not far behind Sidious. The only error (and not a mistake) they made was thinking they can bait Sidious to make a move by sending Kenobi and Yoda away, whereas Sidious was waiting for nothing else but for them to try and bait him.

The jedi thought by killing grevious it would mean sidious had to make a move in order to continue the war. But sidious wanted the war to be over. And as long as Grevious was out there, that wouldn't happen

The Jedi are far worse with fewer morals than any of the Sith Anakin met, yet they were surprised that someone with Anakins focus on justice and right would turn on them.

I guess you liked the reign of the Empire! Alderan was destroyed by the Death Star. More planets would have been partially or totally destroyed if the Death Stars weren't destroyed. Billions to a Trillion were killed during the Clone Wars and the 20 years of the Empire. The Sith was behind of all of it!

@@arronfrazier7873 That's a false logic argument, the empire didn't exist before Anakin turned to the dark side and he had no way of predicting the future. Anakin would have to go off the knowledge he had available to him at the time, he doesn't know the knowledge the audience has of future events. Nice demonstration that you struggle with the theory of the other though.
