Julian! I liked your sharing the coaches comments made to you "Don't get mad, get curious!" I like to consider myself a student of the game of golf. I have been playing it for over 66 years and I find I am always learning something new. I spend hours going through You Tube videos on different aspects of the game. After a round, I analyze my round and will try to find answers to troubling situations in my round. Your channel is one of those I go to. Keep up the good work!

I’d like to share my recent success in engaging Julian Mellor as my swing coach. I’m a 72 year old senior left handed golfer from Virginia. I have played for over 50 years. Golf is a major focus of my retirement years. It gives me great pleasure to report my handicap index yesterday fell below 10 for the first time in my life. I have Julian to thank for that. My story- About 3 years ago I was struggling with inconsistent ball striking. I found Julian and his colleagues on KZbin, started working with the Easy Swing philosophy and incorporating la dance du golf in my pre- shot routine. It worked quite well over time. However, about 4 months ago my swing began to deteriorate and my scores ballooned up. I was really frustrated. Something was off. Poor drives, chunky weak irons.. skulled chip shots to name a few. So I decided to engage Julian in a 60 day improvement program … remotely. In the beginning, my wife video recorded my swing with different clubs from various angles and I emailed them off to Julian. (Btw, if you’ve never seen a video of your golf swing, be prepared… uuugh!). I didn’t know what to expect in return .. maybe a focus on la dance du golf? Sending along already available videos from KZbin?…canned responses that he gives everyone? I had no idea. What I received was problem identification and improvement guidance on the idiosyncrasies of MY swing. It was personal, direct and easy to understand. I tried his suggestions, exchanged more videos.. kept him up to date on results. We went through it all- from driving, irons, punch and runs, putting.. the whole gamut. I would have never ever identified these issues on my own let alone fixed them. I’d been trying for 50 years! I couldn’t be happier. Particularly when I really pure a 6 iron or pound out a long straight drive with a controlled and relaxed swing. There is no better feeling. Thank you Julian for what you’ve done for me. You’ve made my game what it is today, and set the groundwork for long term continued improvement. Your most grateful student from Virginia, Lloyd Anderson Ps- if anyone has a question of me and my experience, I’d be happy to answer.

I've been working on the proper golf swing and finding some success Julian. I was really having problems with shifting my weight to the lead side. I wonder why so very many golf coaches maintain that you should keep your head behind the ball? Watching your videos for a while now and find that swinging smoothly through the ball and letting the head turn with the swing is so much easier and gets me at least as much if not more distance and more accurate shots. I don't have it down perfectly as old habits die hard but I am seeing progress. Much better weight transfer with little effort as compared to the coaching I have had for many years. I'm going on 78 years old so it's a relief not trying to muscle the ball for distance with all kinds of crazy offline shots. It's also so much easier on the body. Thank you for all the great information and videos you supply us with. USA follower.

Thank you so much -- this video helped me turn a corner. I'm 67, a golfer for over 50 years, and decided to adopt the Easy Swing last fall. Overall it's been very helpful, but I have been frustrated by inconsistency, especially thin or fat shots. The video helped me understand why. I videoed my swing and saw a major difference between my swing and yours - at the beginning of the downswing I was dropping my right shoulder while keeping my head back, hence no consistent genuine weight shift left. I thought my finish seemed good, but it was much the old 'reverse-C' than your upright finish. A practice session at the range last night helped it all come together, thanks again for the insights!

This is a very nice demonstration, in what I call the "positionless golf" school, of ball focus vs. target focus. I've even heard more traditional teachers talk about just "park[ing] the car in the garage"; i.e. just making one complete swing to the finish. This definitely helps shift the weight forward. Thanks, Julian.

You r right about soon as u contact the ball then follow thru with your head movement: but you move your head just b 4 contact (split 2nd) unless everything about your swing is complete, then the wayward shot happens, I dont think it so much the head moving or remaining still untill after contact when the momentum moves the head. The problem is your eye is taken from the ball just prior 2 impact. Just prior 2 is a milli 2nd. Anyway that s what I ve found. My eye should b on the back of the ball and when the explosion occurs it s looking toward the ball flight.

Mr. Mellor, your videos have really helped me to play better, and enjoy myself much more. I still have a long way to go, but I'll get there in time. I do have a question for you. How hard do you look at the ball during the backswing? I'm finding that if I don't focus too hard on the ball during the backswing, I generally do a bit better. Lately, I've been allowing my head to turn back during the backswing to a point where I can see 2-3 feet behind the ball. Then, during the downswing, I allow myself to see the ball. After I hit the ball, I've been turning my head and body to face the target. Any thoughts? Thank you Mr. Mellor.

I would say what you are doing is absolutely fine by me, I don’t focus on the ball at all, I can see it but I wouldn’t let it restrict any movement

Power of our coaching But the strangest result of the coaching is this: I was the world's worst putter... an absolute comedy routine, 3-putt specialist. After your course I changed my putter grip to use the regular grip I use with other clubs. And I let go completely of all thought, calculation, green reading, set up, stance - everything. I simply walk up behind the ball looking in a very general manner from the ball to the hole. One practice swing, looking at the hole. Take the putter back and let it swing 'all by itself' So for nearly two months now I've been rolling in an embarrassing amount of 15, 20, 30, 45 foot putts. And if they don't go in, they're dead. Lag putting is spot on. Curious eh? The only conscious decision I make is how far to take the putter back. The rest takes care of itself. The power of the subconscious, perfectly demonstrated! I'm waiting to wake up from this dream! Instead of dreading them, I simply can't wait to get at those putts, I relish them. This complete turnaround is definitely down to your coaching, no other possible explanation. And for that I send you my heartfelt thanks. From Chris Gibson

I’ve devoted my time and cancelled all other methods of the golf swing. And I’ve tried many. It has worked quite well to my advantage. I periodically leave my iron shots out to the right. (Right handed golfer). I think I’m getting too far ahead of the ball at impact, but not sure. I can’t justify a trip from Ohio to your location, so I’m going to sign up for FaceTime but not sure how to start. Will someone give me instructions to proceed. Can I do this in my house without a ball? I’ll be in contact when I’m back home in May. Thanks for your videos and your help

@@JulianMellor Julian, may I address you by your real name....Merlin....for you are a wizard! I used this lesson on the practice tee today, and became aware of, for the first time in 65 years of golfing, what I was doing with my eyes and head! It made all the difference in the world. My grandfather was a teaching pro (President of the Senior PGA in 1953), and he tried to teach us how to play. One thing he always drilled into us was---"Keep your head down." So, we would lock our head in place, and not really know anything about what it was doing in the golf swing. Now, I know, and I can use it. Thanks!
